I'm suggesting that the "exclusive to Optus" argument is stupid since it isn't currently exclusive to Optus.
Exclusive to "not-Foxtel/Telstra" might be a more appropriate term. If there's no chance of it being sold on non-Optus Fetch boxes, it's even less chance to be on Foxtel I would say.

And it's strange they won't offer it on non-Optus Fetch boxes, but do on Apple TV...

Would hope it'll be sold to Xbox's/PS4s at some point at least.
The benefit of Fetch though is you can record (on the Mighty/gen2 boxes). It's hurting those willing to buy their own box outright. Retail Fetch is already offering multi-box linking, so you can subscribe to their channel packs once and watch on up to three boxes in your home. Maybe when Optus finally launch this there will be room to move...

Then why give a game to SBS..?
Don't forget they got a pretty sweet deal from SBS. We're no longer able to see most of the World Cup first round without having some sort of service with Optus.

It's bad enough that the English FA allowed it - but it's downright disgraceful that a FIFA trying to reform itself would allow it.

Of course, again my point was only that it means the broadcasts aren't exclusive to Optus.

I can get Optus Sport on Apple TV. They are happy to share the product with the next gen. Its the greedy Foxtel campaigners that don't share. I still can't get BeIN Sports connect or Foxtel Play with Apple TV.

BeIN Sports don't have apps on any streaming boxes or consoles. FoxtelPlay is available on the Telstra TV box or gaming consoles

Yeah they only share it on their own Telstra TV box, won't give it to Apple like Optus Sport did.
Bein sport is available on all phones, tablets & home computers plus both gaming consoles. It's also available through Foxtel and through Fetch TV to anyone.

While it doesn't have an app on apole tv you are able to rebroadcast it from a Web browser over apple tv so your argument is absolutely hopeless. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Gaming consoles? I'm assuming you mean through Foxtel Play?

lol why are you so triggered? I am only comparing Optus Sport willingness to share with Apple TV while Foxtel Play won't as they want people using their Telstra box.

I want to be able to watch Foxtel through Apple TV like I do with the Optus Sport app. Because Optus Sport are willing to share with Apple TV it means I just have to switch on the TV and go to the app. Would be nice if Foxtel shared it too without requiring me to add yet another remote to the collection or using mirroring, but they are being greedy trying to make me get a Foxtel box.

Dismantling your poor argument doesn't make him triggered. As he's pointed out, you don't need a Telstra Box so your insistence you need one is wrong.

The only person bring triggered is you with your responses which are literally idiotic.

Foxtel Play is available on many platforms including Apple TV rendering your argument absolutely irrelevant.

Terms like triggered and snowflake seem to have been created to basically put down anyone that disagrees with you in a way that discourages anyone actually trying to form a rational, coherent point.

I think Optus want to keep it on their thing so it's exclusive to them etc.
It still would be exclusive to Optus if you had to pay them $25 a month to watch it.

I hope Bein gets it next time because it is on the most platforms.
Optus wants people to have to sign up to their mobile/internet services to be able to watch PL, that's always been their goal. Allowing it to be broadcast on Foxtel negates that, hence they won't do it.

It's all about increasing their subscription numbers rather than just "owning" the rights. Whether it's working or not is another story (figures suggest it currently isn't), but the current system means that any current non-optus customers need to switch over to them for the access to the PL and then more often than not pay an additional fee for the PL as well. It's also an incentive for current Optus customers to stay with them rather than switch over to Telstra or another provider. I don't think they really care how many people are actually watching the PL (especially because 90% of the ads are for themselves!), as long as it improves their number of mobile/internet subscriptions and reduces the number of people leaving.

The way I see it everyone that would sign up for Optus has by now.

Why not expand their net and add a subscription channel on Foxtel for $20 a month to get even more revenue?

I'm not trying to defend them as I don't agree with their policy of limiting to Optus customers, just trying to explain why they have done it the way they have.

I think a Foxtel channel would be good, and from Optus' point of view it may open it up to more potential customers (this is borderline as I recall it was previously mentioned in this thread that there are more Optus subscribers than Foxtel subscribers). I guess they have balanced that with how much of a benefit they receive in terms of losing mobile/internet subscriptions and it didn't work financially.

It's definitely part of an overrarching strategy relating to subscriber numbers, they would be using EPL as a loss leader to get the numbers up.
