Glenorchy, Arsenal,
According to Roy Morgan there are 1.7 million English Premier League viewers in Australia I wonder what percentage of them will churn over to Optus?
A lot of casual viewers will fall by the way side one would think, and in my case and people like me Optus have made it to difficult to be able to buy a package without breaking a contract with either there ISP or mobile carrier. I am locked into both and unfortunately Optus service for both products down here is poor and not worth the financial outlay (just breaking contracts for both would be close to $1K) for what is a second rate service they provide at a very expensive price even with them dangling the carrot of the EPL

The winners are those who are already with Optus and have a good reliable service still have my doubts with the numbers of subscribers how the streaming of games will go without buffering and stuttering, I am only interested in watching on HD on a Large Flat screen TV with the ability to record games.
Not going to give up Foxtel and watch the poor free to Air AFL and A-league coverage

And what exactly are they doing for the other 37% who are still under contract? Stiff shit? Or will Optus offer to pay exit charges from contracts so EPL viewers are able to come across to them?
This. I've got 22 months to go on my internet and 16 on my phone. As if Optus will help me get out of those, not that I even want to.

This is f**ked for me.

Firstly I'm 6 months into a 24 month cable deal with Telstra.

Previously I was had Optus ASDL 2 + that delivered me a massive 1.5-2 Mbps.

The NBN doesn't roll out in my area until the first half of 2018 so I can't get decent internet except for Telstra until then.

Lastly I have work phone with Telstra.

Any friends on an Optus plan of $85 / month or higher that don't give a shit about EPL? Borrow their login details.

Apparently BT sold 500k subscriptions and most of those were to existing customers.

Of course they only had a few games.

Foxtel can go get stuffed. They charge ****load to have no champions league and now no premier league. And then they complain to the government about people pirating. Surely they would have learnt from the demise of the TV networks that if you treat consumers like shit they access media without paying.
You need to get with the times. They'll have Champions League, Europa, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, and the English Championship next season for free.

Ha yeah, here is the core of Optus's problem. They want people to switch over to their internet (potentially at a cost) to stream football matches that their internet is too slow to do.

Might as well stay with other ISP with faster net and use an illegal stream. Modern consumers aren't dumb.
