I watched it back in the day when it was "on air" and tried the S1 DVD boxset at least three times before I made it 4-5 episodes and it finally clicked, then I was hooked.

I had several seasons on dvd, only attempted to watch season 1 (made it to the point of ripping it to a hard drive, never got around to it). Jump forward 15+ years later... the complete series bluray was cheap. Purchased and loved it when I watched it.

Toward the end of my bviewing I purchased Better Call Saul... didn’t immediately watch it back to back after BB.... but once I did start watching WOW!

The Leftovers. Saw it years after it aired. Not generally a fan of this genre but it got me hooked and I binged all three seasons.

Now watching Humans, a Westworld-type show with AI robots engineered to be domestic servants and sex workers. It was made between 2015 and 2018 but I’d never heard of it. Pretty good.

Agreed on The Wire, my mate loves it and said to me be prepared to get ready to stop watching and then boom one episode hits you and that's it.

Must admit, I didn’t finish either. They were great, but I think all the hype around them left me a little underwhelmed. Made it through about three seasons of both, then dropped off.
Don’t get me wrong, great shows, I just didn’t get addicted like I have with the other big ones that I watched when they came out. (BB, BCS, Game of Thrones).

I think it’s sort of easy to get distracted if you’re not waiting on the next episode and having those discussions around the water cooler.

Yeah it absolutely can be difficult when shows are hyped up by all and sundry. You go in with huge expectations and are expecting to be wowed from the get-go.

I would suggest to try both again at a later date, if you can. I was late to The Wire and couldn’t get enough of it. Sopranos is on another level for me. Will watch again soon.

I’m the opposite though.

The Sopranos was a genius thing. Up to season three, they were still sort of coming across as a bit heroic and tough fellas you want on your side .
Then it got dark, and I began to start hating them, the characters, the self preservation the total non caring of anyone really, Carmela was a bad gangster, she just didn't know it. I've watched the full series all seasons three times over the years.

Best thing I've ever seen, but it doesn't end up making Mafiosi people in that life anything to look up to.
Superb acting direction, it was indeed about the family, the De Cavalcanti's.

Well I can only assume that everyone watched The Americans as it aired seeings as it hasn't been mentioned yet . I got to binge the first couple of seasons of that before having to settle in to play the waiting game so I guess it kind of counts for me.

My wife and I watched Stella!

It was full on brilliant it was dramatic funny sad bloody memorable one of the best , we took a couple of weeks maybe three, to see the lot.
But it was finished a few years back, in production so we caught it late, wewatch a lot of Pommy cop series too, they are the best, but Stella was different and well, They should make more , ha ha.

One thing I do get angry about is the time frames between series seasons I know they have other work and they are directed well, so they are not that quick at getting scenes done, but I have had Shetland and watched season 8 after Perez finished in the show,, the two female cops, and then no nine series has been completed so I read? But I though early in the year 2024.
Every time I go to look for it I can only find the no 8 we've seen it.

Hope Street it must be 2 years ago and gone no number 5 I think.

Is it because of contracting to different streamers that causes holding back shows.

We get Britbox, with the latest season of the new, All Creatures Great and Small, yet we can't get
past episode 4 til next week but its sold and open in Britbox?

Why do they hold the things back weekly , it may as well be old time TV. But you pay for streaming even the bloody ads!
Suppose I whinge too much but is anyone finishing the making of 1923 , the follow up to 1883,

It must be 2 years since the first 8 episodes, just left everyone standing with no answers.

1923 …didn’t get past Ep 1 but I see a new season is coming
