Make 'em work for the like button. Do you hear yourself..."don't have to think"

The placement of the twitter button doesn't constitute a think example tho because it's more trained habits than thinking. The previous buttons you're hearing people ONLY complain that they're used to it and now theyd have to adapt. They adapted to that too from a previous button layout. It took me all of about 30 secs to retrain my brain that the first button is tweet. No one LIKES more posts than me and I found it no hassle to relearn. Our Bigfooty layouts and button placements have changed a lot or often over the years. None of them were "don't make us think" significantly enough. We all adapted to each change or addition.

What you could do maybe is have a single drop down button where you then select LIKE, TWEET, REPLY, MULTI QUOTE, etc. Instead of buttons for each one.

Im not complaining about the button being where it is. I'm complaining about having a completely useless feature there that I can't turn off taking up valuable screen space.

Seriously. I don't want to end up seeing a post of mine on here tweeted by someone else.

Why does Bigfooty need this integration with twitter?
Superb. Now does anyone have an answer to the question above?

What are you looking at, a screen for ants?

It is not only about the placement of the button but also the 'why'
It is already at the top of the page and at the bottom of the page - imo that is more than enough, should I decide that I wish to tweet something

The top and bottom tweet buttons are for the entire thread link to be tweeted. The new tweet button is to tweet out individual posts.

And for those asking WHY, again one of the new directives of this board is to further enhance and expand the social media aspects. We brought in a tech guy who has done a whole heap of great social media additions. Like the inboard hashtag to name just one. There's far more connectivity now with social media...Google plus etc. It's the way forward. Integration with social media.

But if I am posting here it is in context to the conversation being had. Why would I post it to twitter of facebook when there is no context? I highly doubt any of my friends that don't use bigfooty would click the link to find out what the **** my ramblings are about.

Think outside yourself. You're one person of many who don't do that. But there are as many people who MAY want to tweet out funny or interesting posts...their own or others. The capability is there now. People like you can just continue to NOT click tweet. But now the others CAN click tweet.

Also the big picture....promotes the Bigfooty board and attracts more hits and views and registrations etc.

Cmon man.

Alternatively, it can be used to troll, shame, embarrass posters in a forum where they may not get the right of reply if they don't use twitter.

Not arguing the 'why' at all, but the 'how'...

How would most users order the importance of the tweet, like and reply buttons?

I'm confident the answer will show that the UI is off. I'm not throwing the toys out of the cot. I just hope it gets tweaked at some stage.

Just give me the option to turn it off. I'll never use it in a serious way, ill never ever tweet my own or somebody else's post for any other reason but to troll, id rather just not have the option at all.

Changes the nature of posting on the forum.

If I'm not on twitter for a reason I'm not sure why someone should be able to quote my posts directly onto it.

Then there is the reality that there is no reason for it except for BigFooty to leach off twitter (probably as way of trying to increase traffic).

Perfect! Karma. Serves them right. People working harder to think, to make good posts.

Well they can already quote you manually... it's not like removing the (admittedly annoying) button would stop that happening.

...as the posting rate goes crashing through the floor.

Please tell me you aren't genuine?

As we all know, there are some posters on here that will use the function to do that. The original post may just be of a different opinion and not daft or wrong.

Ideally, it would be good to get the choice of turning off the ability for your posts to be tweeted.

Why should the posts I make here be displayed on a site that I have nothing to do with nor want anything to do with.

As I said previously, if I wanted to tweet something, I'd be on Twitter, not Bigfooty.

Over-reaction. Like every single time anything gets implemented or added to BF. Like the thread tags, as just one example. It was the end of the world.

Hashtags and thread tags, meh. But actually requiring people to think??? You go TOO FAR, sir!

Now i have to look before I like - Not cool. :D

Possible to switch tweet/like buttons around?, and yes its pedantic.

Gough Whitlam's last message to me was a tirade against this tweet button.

Maintain your rage Bigfooty.
