Two Questions about Melbourne Pubs

"best" and "karaoke" are oxymorons.

there are not many pubs in melb (if any) that are totally dedicated to seafood, but there are some that has seafood on their menus.

The London (Port Melb) - restaurant's expensive, bar is cheaper.

Robbie Burns (Smith Street) - good seafood paella.
Most of the Belgian pubs will do excellent Mussels and french fries (moules et frites) - try Belgian Beer Cafe Bluestone.
The Standard in Fitzroy does exceptional beer battered fish and chips; also have stuff like roasted blue eye with mash.
The Carringbush (Abbortsford) has a nice dining room that has a number of seafood dishes.

you're better off going to restaurants for good seafood. some of the chinese ones are exceptional and good value. i.e. Chun Po (Hawthorn), Fu Long (Box Hill), and Pacific Seafood Restaurant (Richmond).

Thanks for that sussudio. Sure karaoke can be a drag, but I was hoping that the karaoke at the Greyhound in St Kilda on Sunday nights is still kicking along. Frequented by oddballs - always an entertaining session to catch.

The London sounds like the best of the pubs offering seafood on the menu. I write the pubs of the month for Ralph Mag, so most of those you've mentioned I've covered. Thanks for sharing your extensive knowledge. Mucho appreciato.

don't know about karaoke in pubs, but they are popular in many asian restaurants, particularly some of the japanese and korean ones. somewhere like seoul house (CBD) has a whole floor dedicated to karaoke, and the food is pretty much pub prices.

I do food reviews for a hobby if ever you need a freelance food critic for Ralph ;)

I'll keep your neighbour in mind localyokel. I can bring Ralph's patented bikini babes along if you lay on the horse's doovers. Yeah, well.

Sussudio, if I had any say whatsoever, you'd be our very own John Lethlean for the mag. Of course, I have no say, and in the world of Ralph, food is 12 pots of VB and a packet of Burger Rings. Maybe a souv if you're flush.
