It's a shame there isn't a compulsory vaccine to prevent the spreading of stupid.

No it doesn't, it proves people are willing to take on the risks. They are able to make a decision, just in your eyes and many others, including mine, its the a bad one

Do you not understand the concept of "herd immunity"?

If it was purely their own body they were screwing with, I'd say good riddance to them. But their refusal to vaccinate endangers the lives of others as well.

Um....the right of babies, the elderly, the immuno-compromised, or those allergic to vaccines to be able to live a healthy life without dying of some preventable disease is a pretty fundamental human right as well. Many of these people have no "choice". So no, your premise is flawed.

BTW the whole "I'm not anti-vacc, I'm pro-choice" is a very typical anti-vaxxer argument point. So for someone who's supposedly not anti-vaccine, you're doing a good impersonation of one.

Another generalisation, take my points for what they are, don't say I'm representing a group or impersonating somebody. My points are my points. I've made it very clear I'm pro vaccine and I am glad I am vaccinated and plan to vaccinate my kids. I am also pro choice, its as simple as that, my views are mine alone.

You're point is an interesting one. When does one human right out trump another? Can human rights be ranked?

People die, people are born weaker or stronger, people are born in different areas of the world. People get eaten by bears, people die of cancer, in this world there are risks we can control, risks we can mitigate and risks we have no control over

We have some control over disease, but I still value the choice of exercising the amount of control you decide is best.

Translation: I'm an anti-vaxxer.........

My now 10 week old was due for his first shot just after Easter, got very sick over Easter to the point of being tested for Whooping Cough, thank god it wasn't, but just reflecting on that experience I cannot understand why anyone wouldn't vaccinate their kids. There is no worse feeling on this planet than watching your kids suffer in a hospital.

And yes myself, the missus and both families arranged Whooping Cough jabs while she was pregnant.

Are you pro choice or pro 'informed' choice?

Is there a difference?

Does anyone in this thread actually know what is in the vaccines given to their children?

Is a school nurse's office not akin to some kind of 'off-site injecting room'?

You can always ask.

If the school nurse 'loses' the paperwork about what he or she is giving your kid then take your kid somewhere else.

Those of you saying that vaccination should be compulsory, how many of you have any idea which chemicals are in these vaccinations?

And since we all know that for the vast majority of you the honest answer is ZERO, who the **** do you think you are telling other people what should be injected into their children?

The self-righteousness from some on this issue is mind-boggling. Only those who allow tv to think for them could be so stupid. Given that most Australian 'adults' fall into this category, one can quickly see why there are so many people in this thread foaming at the mouth about parents choosing not to inject their children with big pharma concoctions.
If you don't immunize your children, they should be taken from you. Simple as that.
I hope you sign up to be one of the guys who goes around attempting to kidnap peoples kids. And I hope that on the day you are assigned to attempt to kidnap my kid, you kiss your own family goodbye before you leave for work.

Most inoculations are actually deactivated/neutralised forms of the pathogen that are harmless to the receiver but still genetically similar enough to an active form of the pathogen that it stimulates the production of antibodies for the 'memory' of the immune system- in particular, the T4 cells.

So the whole scare campaign about 'ooohhh, chemicals' is an utter misnomer.

It's actually not just a matter of personal choice, for everyone who chooses to expose their kids to being a potential petri dish of pathogens by not getting them inoculated, you are also decreasing the herd immunity of the community in general.

I cannot understand how it's even a debate. Smallpox...I suppose it just decided to **** off of its own accord, did it?

Obviously he'll be bypassing your house as your kids will have already expired from one of the many preventable infectious diseases they weren't immunised against.
