Unfortunately I reckon his draft point is either 5 or 7, and we don't have the realistic chance to net 2 picks from either Essendon or Melbourne. If there was a 3 way trade where we got 5, 8, and steak knives sure, but thats getting to fantasy territory

Personally i wouldnt do #5+#6 for #2 +#9
#9 just falls out of the range to get the mid that they would want

#2-CDT
#3-Robey
#4-Taylor
#5-Sharp
#6-Cumming
#7-Grlj
#8 ??
#9 ??

They would have to rate players like Dovaston , Farrow , Schubert , Lindsay or Phillipou to do that trade
Not sure they LOVE CDT that much to give up a player like Cumming/Sharp which going by the bombers board
they would be happy with that combo

Indeed, this is my point exactly is that the blanket over 2 through 7-9 range is too tight for a trade up to 2 over just getting 2 of those talents to actually be worth while

The main issue with this is Essendon and Richmond would need to want the same players and for us to want someone different. Otherwise, we're potentially missing ALL of our targets.

I personally would love Sharp at Richmond
there seems to be alot of people connecting Richmond with Grlj & Taylor but we were also connected to Bo Allan last year and passed on him. and could trade that to Melbourne or even another club depending on whats on offer

I have not given up on Sharp at pick #4

Haha mate, there is no world where we are the ones trading an F1 out. I don't know what had you thinking that, but regardless of the return, clubs still need to be the ones paying overs to get up to 2. Thats one of the reasons why its so hard when its so tight at the top end, no one is going to take unders to move down

35% of the poll voting to take Sharp #2 alot higher than CDT

If you were selecting for the eagles today with pick #2 who are you taking

Realistically? CDT. Myself? Draft Sharp and either hope Schubert falls to 13, or trade 13 for an F1 from Saints and guarantee ourselves all 3 draftable tied talents

From an outsider looking into the eagles i would take Duursma & Sharp with 1 &2 and if they can get #9 Dovaston with dealing with a Ruck later in the draft if required. Also i noticed there are a couple of good Rucks available next year in WA

I agree, many on the eagles board ascribe however to the idea of highest ceiling available at 1 and 2, which is a more than fair strategy

Ceiling height estimation are what causes teams to select players that may not become what we as supporters expect unless they actually get there and most dont. He is a great athlete but i really dont see him as an effective Ruckman at 200cm without a good leap specially with the new ruck rules but he is an athlete and will get around the ground at speed and could be good as a 2nd ruckman. Hopefully he does get to his potential which i see more as Blicavs rather than jackson

CDT is a more frwd utility type who can ruck. Talent wise he's a lock for top two.
It's one of those drafts that's so even that you can practically take anyone rated between 3-20 and it won't be controversial as with other drafts of the past.
Also, any club that has weaknesses in the modern game with not enough talented half backs or half frwds can easily fill their boots.
For Hawks ? At ten I'd want between:
Grjl ( don't think he gets through )
Farrow
Nhh
Philippou
Dovaston

Edit: Just realised I forgot to draft Josh Lindsay somewhere. Probably goes to GWS after their bidding spree, really low on him. Rest of the board would be shuffling down obviously and Nairn probably goes to the next team that needs a hybrid forward or can afford to take a punt on him as a defender

That Richmond trade with Essendon is the equivalent of WCE doing 1, 41 & F3 for 3, 38 & F2 with Richmond. It just wouldn't happen. Richmond would only be trading out of 3 or 4 for a current top 10 pick and a F1 (top 10) in 2026 as it's been made clear that any trade would require an exceptional offer.

Agree to disagree on a lot of that mate, especially the opening sentence. I'll start by saying that yes the trade is shit, it was done very late at night. I'm currently revising the mock, having forgotten 3 or 4 prospects out of sheer tiredness.

The logic at the time is Richmond getting what they can if they're set on their picks. No point sticking and picking if your talents are available later, but I definitely needed to account greater for the gap Robey has on the other top prospects. In the same way that if I had WC picking Sharp I'd have them trading down.

If the trade didn't happen, I'd still have them taking the same 2 players. I completely disagree with the idea that in order to move from pick 3 to pick 5 they would need to receive an F1. I think that can be done for an F2 and some steak knives, and if I kept the trade in (which i'm not) the revised version, they'd not have sent an F3 back, and I'd likely have Essendon finding a pick greater than 31 to move up Richmond's third pick.

That's great and all mate, but as I said, I don't see the point in them doing that when they can get extra value for the same players, but each to their own. It is a mock and they're meant to be realistic, but it's also mine and tied to my logic, you're more than welcome to do your own if you feel differently

You see a smart fellas like Ed do some funky stuff in his mock too, and thats what makes it his, everyones is different

I can easily see melbourne coming in with a trade for #4 with #7 & GC1'st

Well, according to the Rookie Me Central draft guide, he appears to be a small forward whose weaknesses are... pressure and scoring. The two things you most want out of small forwards. Colour me unimpressed.

But regardless, good on you txbyhull for giving it a go.

Got a bit funkier with some selections and trades here, like last time in case it wasnt obvious I take creative liberties as it is all recreational for me, I'm not trying to get it right.




I may well get another one out before the draft, maybe even 2. They'll also get funky. Cry me a river if you don't like it, you don't have to engage!
