Player Watch Tyan Prindable

I think judging Ty after the whole season not a couple a games would be more suitable.

I think everyone had an expectation after his preseason that he would be pushing for an early selection but obviously that’s not the case now and we have to see what he can produce over the year.

He had a step in the right direction last night, from what I saw he was a lot better than previous weeks, so that’s a massive plus moving forward.

Or injury, he could have been working through injury like Westy with his foot.

Hopefully his early season form was just nerves then.
His last couple of games he got a bot more tome on ball while the first couple of games he played he was player wing and small forward which certainly doesn’t suit him

Yes. And you will see my comments on him were not positive.

However he was much improved today.

Did you watch today’s game? Two elite kicks inside 50 to hill and west setting up goals.

He was a lot more composed today.
Genuine inside mid traits. But it's going to be a wait and and as always, a guess on development.

Noticed Prindable got a fair bit of the ball with 24 disposals in the VFL match against the Swans yesterday. Is he starting to show signs of improvement or were they mostly cheap possessions??

There was a lot of in and under stuff yesterday
Thought he played quite well and will get better as he gets fitter
Yesterday was his first real full time run as a starting midfielder
The two concerns I have are his pace and what other positions can he play as he looks purely an inside mid to me
If he makes it he will to very Tom Mitchell like as a player
Hopefully he can be somewhere near as good as him

Sounds like there's still plenty to learn, but perhaps he's starting to find his feet a bit more after half a season in the Pies' VFL program. I'm sure it would be challenging for an 18 year old from Queensland to leave his family and move to literally the biggest club in Australia where there are so many eyes on you every game/training session you participate in. That's a lot of pressure and a very different environment to the one he was used to in QLD.

Side note - saw some comments earlier in this thread about Prindable's background and whether he was Indigenous. The AFLPA released their 2026 Indigenous Map this week which confirms Prindable is Indigenous from the Mununjali/Yugambeh people who are native to the Gold Coast/Beaudesert area in Queensland.

I think he's improving and showing signs of class.
My opinions aren't worth much 😵‍💫

I didn’t catch the game but his stats are a massive improvement on what he’s been serving up

To those who managed to watch what was his impact like with these numbers ?

I think he's really clean and composed with the footy - now that he's settled. But looks slow and isn't getting it consistently yet. Probably still a bit young for his role. If he can add a bit of power, he'll be an outstanding prospect, if not he's less likely.

His 2km trial wasn’t great. Mentions he needs work there. I’d suggest his fitness needs a bit of work which may be why he appears a bit slow and can’t find it as much “yet”. Everything mentioned in his profile has been on display so far

It would be fantastic news if his lack of speed is due to him having poor fitness. Fitness is a lot easier to fix than legspeed.

After all the talk about him being ultra professional the poor fitness wouldnt make much sense however

I get frustrated by the quick judgements. Picks 1-20 get three year contracts. Pick 21- get two years. Rookies 1 year. The big footy fans make strong decisions based upon a few weeks. Prindable was rated early and then struggled. There is a quality core there. Clean. Good skills. Finds the ball. He is now building. The pace needs to be improved. Difficult but not impossible.

He's not likely to become quick, but pace improves after 18.

Skill level might drop too, but it's definitely worth giving it a go.
Well if it's like my drinking and golf/pool it gets better until about 4 or 5 beers and then deteriorates.

As for Tyan, he's definitely in the 'give him time for his body to match his playing style' category.
