I believe cal twomey mentioned it on the coverage on the afl site.
I was being hopeful and hyperbolic! It's November 2025! We can dream big right now.Based on what?
I think we have the best midfielder, but we don't seem to have someone who will realistically be a strong 2nd and 3rd threat in the middle. Other clubs do.

To be fair we thought MCrae and Draper could be fine midfielders.I was being hopeful and hyperbolic! It's November 2025! We can dream big right now.
I didn't. I haven't seen a player of the build and style of either Swadling or Angus Anderson selected in a draft for quite some time.To be fair we thought MCrae and Draper could be fine midfielders.
Pendles like with his professionalism
Yeah nothing was a guarantee. I reckon unless you are a top pick, you hope but no expectations and just want to get on a list.He would have known that he was not guaranteed to be taken by Brisbane, even though he was part of their academy.
I think we've got a good one!

That the Lions were able to overlook a boy like this say,s everything about the advantages these northern academies have and along with F/S avenues will make it very hard to compete with them. Those northern academies are becoming a draft within a draft.
It's fantastic for the game to see all this high level talent come through from non traditional footy states. But there will need to be a balancing of the ledger soon. I agree with Gerard Whately that it's already gone too far.
I hate to say this, but he kinda looks like Joey richards lolReminds me of Neville Bruns
I get a Sydney mid from their previous era vibe.Reminds me of Neville Bruns
is that a good thingI get a Sydney mid from their previous era vibe.

Yes. 2013 type of era when they had an endless supply of really solid professional inside mids.is that a good thing![]()
I reckon when you get Annable to add to an already impressive midfield, I'm thinking they just didn't have the need for another midWould be very easy to think 'he's on the academy for team x, y or z so we won't bother putting time into him' but after bidding on two academy players and landing them in consecutive years, it just goes to show every player is worth putting the effort into if they fit a list need.
Think last year we were a bit spooked thinking Sydney probably just didn't match because they didn't rate. But this year it seems a lot clearer that Brisbane just didn't have his type high on their list. I mean sure if he was a top ten prospect and the same style player they'd probably just get him anyway, but their loss will hopefully be our gain.
