I keep thinking about what it is that impresses most about Tyan from training sessions to date, and his balance comes straight to mind… along with footy IQ, work ethic / coverage of ground, and calmness.

Gets in great positions, but then has those cat like / low centre of gravity balance / features that enable him to evade tacklers and execute an extraction. Then he’s on his bike again and knows where to run to to provide link up play and transition. And whilst not electric, slow he is not.

I can see why the recruitment team were rapt that Brisbane passed on this kid, as I’m genuinely hoping he’s a Priddis / Licuria type that comes across as vanilla at first sight, but builds and builds due to shear work ethic and a great all round game.

FTR I haven’t seen a right side yet, as he always wheels around onto his left like most left footers. So maybe that comes later…

I’ll also say that Shane Obree also looks to have been an astute pick up. All draftees are impressing so far. And given the draft hand he had, he might’ve pulled off some absolute bargains.
Hopefully uncover a top 5 prospect that helps us move forward in the right direction.

With what Prindable is showing already it certainly is looking like we have a bargain at 33, his professionalism is on Nick,Pendles and Sidey levels already.

I agree

Obree will be nice pickup and has astute background

I was already planning on posting the fact that there is a lot of pumping up of the tires of a kid who hasn't yet played a single competitive minute for us (even in a practice match) but who was passed over as a mid/latish by the club who had the best and longest view of his potential and first right of refusal on his listing.

But then I saw that you are seemingly ready to crown O'Bree for not just one but multiple draftee victories before any of them have even taken the field in a competitive game... :)

I think we should see him / them across a few VFL games first before we declare victory on any of them.

I read several comments in the training thread suggesting Tyan trailed the play in the manner that Grundy used to do. I really don't know what to believe about him and will reserve my judgement until I see him play a game.

I agree about O'Bree. Our supporters are always rather too keen about securing a seat in the front of the wagon before it has even moved. 'In Hine we trust' has been long ago ditched and will no doubt be replaced with a similar line about O'Bree. Let's wait till season's end to make a judgement on his recruiting talents.

Exactly. What evidence do we have that O'Bree is good?

So far, he has picked 3 players (ignoring McCarthy), none of whom have had the chance to prove themselves either way. A bad recruiter would have also picked 3 players, and none of those would have had the chance to prove themselves either. What makes us think he is on the 'good' side of the spectrum?

One of them was overlooked by a club that they'd been working with, and picked by us at pick 33. That's obviously not a death sentence, but it's certainly not a glowing endorsement. The last player we took in that scenario was Joel Cochran, and I'm while he is still early, I'm not sure we have yet seen anything that proves Sydney's decision to not match to have been wrong.

I definitely hope that Prindles turns into a contributing member of our midfield at some stage, but we are getting ahead of ourselves slightly here.

I think he's already a cult figure 😂

Surely supporters are entitled to get ahead of themselves when assessing the potential of their latest influx of untested youth. It is one of the true joys of following footy. We get to dream and feel optimistic. The season proper will expose any illusions we may hold very quickly, so let people dream throughout the long, hot summer.

I agree, delist Nick Daicos.

All aboard the Ty Train. Will be our first game debutant of 2026.
Very exciting. Just looks a player doesn’t he. Thought very similar things about Dayne Beams (different types though) in his first pre season and it didn’t take him long to impact
