There's a lot to admire about Edwards. He's a very good player. Very consistent. I don't disagree that he is performing better than McLeod these days, as are a few others.

However, as good as Edwards he is not in that really top bracket of players, because he is not a matchwinner. He doesn't seem to have the ability to turn a match, to produce something out of nothing. He also doesn't get the respect from opposition teams, in the way that say Ricciuto or McLeod get the best defensive players. That's not his fault but it does give him the opportunity to have a bit more freedom to go about his business. He reaps the benefits of having quality players take the spotlight off himself.

I rate Goodwin higher. He is closer to the things that Ricciuto and McLeod (in the past) can do. He has that ability to influence games more than Edwards. I guess Goodwin has missed a bit of football and that's the reason Edwards might be ahead of him in the minds of some.

I love the way Edwards plays. He is a good solid player. But I don't think he has what it takes to be in the top echelon of players in this league. He will forever be stuck in that next bracket of good players. But that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Not much good being more spectacular from the grandstand. You must take that into account if you want to measure someones worth over a sifnificant period of time. This thread is dealing in actual value to the team as opposed to that which is not being realised. Potentially there are players with more ability than Tyson. They have not made the contribution that Tyson has over a period of time. Including Goodwin.

I can see roo’s demise coming soon as well, of the two games I’ve seen this yr unless he was injured he seems to have lost just a little bit.

Yeah...real good observation Jack. Roo is finished and should be traded immediately! Those two games have been enough to convince me that his time is up! ********!
