How do u rate Tyson Edwards as a player?
Do u think he is under-rated or over-rated?

I have noticed he isnt talked about like the other players such as Macca and Goody. is it because he was one that was talked about when he was younger or just because he is a forgotten player.

what a thread.

edwards will play his 300th game this yr all going to plan.

AFL life membership with 289 AFL games, 30 pre-season games, one State-of-Origin match and two International Rules games.

i think that sums it up. hes neither over nor underated.

Delete thread.

I really don't see the point of this. Yet another "do youse rate Edwards?" thread.

Bigfooty sinks to a new low.

the only reason i posted this tread was because i have noticed that he isnt talked about like Macca and Goody

He is the most highly rated under rated player of all time.

Every single football supporter from every club thinks he's a gun yet he still carries the "under rated" tag.

He was under-rated 3-5 years ago, no more, its just that everyone seems to have caught on to how good he is and want to hide their lack of ability to see how good he was 3-5+ years ago by claiming he is severly under-rated.

Edwards career is one I've followed ever since he was drafted and I was a fan of his before he even made his debut (this was at the ripe old age of 8 too:D) and it's been quite funny watching people slowly catch on and suddenly reap praise on him as though they are the only one's to see it.

Edwards comes from the Ben Hart mould in that he is supremely fit (and had a good run with injuries), professional, skillful and rarely plays 2 bad games in a row. IMO he is not talked about that much mainly because he played in the same team as some freakishly talented players such as Mcleod, Ricciuto, Modra, D Jarman and Burton. He is probably being noticed more now that most of those guys are gone and he is getting very close to the magical 300 game mark but is still one of the first picked every week.

We must have had some pretty good talent scouts in the 90s :thumbsu:

Out of Macca Goody and him he will be the one we miss the most.

Most consistantly good player we have had ever.

Certainly an argument for that. I would rate him slightly ahead of Goodwin and just behind McLeod over his career but that's very subjective.

I think he's overrated and hasn't done all that much. I was disappointed in 1999 when we delisted David Gallagher and Ian Downsborough, but kept Edwards.

Flog Alert!!

Yes, I agree totally, I mean these two players went on to have stellar careers with their respective clubs, plus I cant imagine how many brownlow votes thay have had between them. They were clearly a loss to the Adelaide Football Club, We should contact the recruiting department and express our anger of this disastrous outcome!!!!

Then you would doing goodwin a disservice ;) Edwards has got his rewards in the last few years publicly and is rated about right in terms of career overall.

McLeod ... daylight ... Goodwin ... Edwards.

A good case can be put for McLeod to be in the AFL hall of fame (Norm Smiths, AA's, B+F's, 2nd and 3rd in the Brownlow...). You can't make the same case around either Goodwin or Edwards. There's a big gap between McLeod and the other 2.

Goodwin's career outstrips Edwards for mine. Goody's now a 4 time AA, and a 3 time B+F, whereas Tyson has had neither award. Just on those measures, it's hard to put Edwards ahead of Goodwin.

He's more than a good case I'd think, but yeah, you're assessments probably about right, Edwards has had the greater consistency over the past 8 or so years, but just was never quite he class of Mcleod or Goodwin, close and definitely deserves to be rated amongst their company.
