Roast Tyson Stengle sacked after ******* up again

So you think we should act outside of the AFL illicit drug policy? Doing coke does not suggest lack of commitment to the club or even his football.
Doing coke is a serious lack of commitment

The club spend an enormous amount of time, money and resources educating players on getting their bodies strong, healthy and fit for an AFL season and career.

This includes not just the actual fitness work but diet, nutrition, rest, sleep, recovery, and alcohol and drug training

Stengles continue drug and alcohol breaches is a lack of commitment to his team, club and career.

You help him with the rehab to break him out of his current destructive habits, and to help him prepare for the next phase of his life - life as an ex-AFL player.

It has nothing to do with reforming him so he can take his place in the team once again. That bridge has been burned, and there is no coming back.

I don't reckon the coaches see it the same way.

"Hasn't shown anything to..... half as good.......". . Come on, even your post suggests equivalency. Did you actually read the the post I responded to? It was idiotic, Stengle has shown numerous signs he could be multiple times the player Murphy is. I'm not saying he is or his career has or will amount to it. But that poster stated as fact thst Stengle has shown no signs of being a decent footballer. And you're agreeing with that?
Numerous signs? Give me 1.

If you honestly don't think Stengle's off field actions are a lack of commitment towards the footy club, then it's pointless us continuing this discussion...

Taking coke instead of smashing 15 beers actually shows you're commited to your body.

If you're struggling with skin folds and physical recovery, you're FAR better off using recreational drugs than you would be alcohol.

That doesn't actually say anything and of itself.

We're going to find out what the club thinks of Stengle based on how we react.

If he's actually a committed part of the playing group and has been doing what we want, then we'll work through this with him.

If this is a symptom of wider stupidity, casualness and lack of focus, we'll walk away and focus our efforts on Rowe and Dudley.

This is only one part of the decision we'll make.

eeeee
You can't be serious. Stengle was very good over the last four games.
Agreed, he got better thru the season as his Match Fitness improved .......can't believe people can't see the talent & obvious potential ...and not just as a small fwd

The main point is that if he has broken rules to the extent the club can no longer keep him, then he should go. However, there are no current AFL rules nor club rules that states if you have 2 drug offences and 1 social offence, then it’s an automatic resignation.

“That bridge has been burned” says who? Are you a representative of the club or just stating your opinion as fact?

Because he has demonstrated he does not have the mental fortitude with a lack of control.

You really think he will stop with 3 major fu**-ups?
Well that’s one perspective. What if the truth is that he has been battling a mental illness and social drug misuse was his stress outlet? Or perhaps other perspectives somewhere in between.

But the point is that the 3 strikes rule is for drug cheats, not social offences. Would anyone be fired for having 3 separate speeding tickets if working in a sporting arena or an office?

I agree Stengle should go because of 3 * ups in a year and two so close at the end means he’s snubbed his nose at the club and sends a poor message to the group if we tolerate it.

But there would be a massive number of players who use it, especially in the off season when Stengle got done. In terms of fitness etc is has no impact and it’s better in that regard than players getting pissed which they all do.

I don't think anyone is oblivious to his talent, that's kind of the point.

His goal sense is streets ahead of Murphy and given they play the same position, that’s pretty important
Whilst this is true, I reckon they had similar shots on goal this year.

Some have questioned Stengle's short term output .....it's the big picture of a 22YO we need to look at

I can see both sides of the "do we boot to the curb or nurture" argument ......but all the other recent matters of exiting players from their AFL clubs have occurred swiftly ....and those matters were arguably similar

Taylor was worse, nobody in the AFL was going to tolerate domestic violence and nor should they.

This is Tyson's 5th season in the big time, it's gotta click soon.

You honestly reckon the police are going to waste their time trying to turn a grainy photo of a little bit of powder into a prosecutable low level possession case? You can't be that stupid.
geez, yer it must have just been a grainy shot of some powder, cops totally put out a "we can't comment at this stage" every time someone puts up a pic of some powder on social media. yep it must be that simple. they did that for watts photo. did it for mummy. couldn't involve anyone else was just stengle at home by himself. didn't involve any other sorts of naughty activities either. a photo of some powder, defo was drugs, defo by a afl player, defo nothing else, case closed, time for a donut. yep, you guys sure got it all figured out.

Not sure what your point is here?

Bennell, Carlisle, Mumford, Watts etc were never pursued by the police for their public photos with powders. What are they going to be charged with? Having s**t friends?

Hopefully Stengle back at training this week. This circus has gone on long enough.

Absolutely. If we are opting to keep him, then the sooner the better.

Doesn't sound good for Stengle. Sounds like he can't be sacked but won't be getting another game at the club anytime soon.

Not sure he could hope for much more really.

If he shows better application in the next few months he'll be back.
