Roast Tyson Stengle sacked after ****ing up again

It's both. You want to fu** up off field? You need to be good enough or talented enough for a club to want to stick by you. Martin hasn't had issues and he's done things that are a lot worse then Stengle (the chopstick incident, bringing bikies into the change rooms etc).

Stengle wasn't good enough to survive multiple misdemeanors. Someone like Martin was. Especially when there is a reward to opening up a list spot.

Sucks as it is for two mountain out of a molehill type of an issue (the DUI is not), but bad press is bad press.

What made it worse for Stengle was the Crows are trying to build a positive culture and image and after the camp, the club going through the crisis there was literally no Brownie points left in the well to absorb these indiscretions. Had the Crows been playing off in the GF last year, we were running smoothly and no issues off field or on he would still be a crow. I think this is a good thing for him anyway. He can go away, have a good year with the eagles pressure free. I would like to think if he is issue free over the next 18 months he will get a life line. It wouldnt surprise me if the club has spoken to him about that.

The "he wouldn't lose his job elsewhere" is interesting to me, because I understand that what he did wasn't the worst thing in the world by todays standards, doesn't even indicate a big issue that he needs a ton of help with, but I don't think that is the major issue here.

It's true that Stengle wouldn't have been fired by McDonalds or wherever for what he's done.

What he would get fired for is if he did something that landed McDonalds on the front of the newspaper, tv news, online etc.

"McDonalds worker Tyson Stengle, has been found with ______________... The McDonalds worker____________, McDonalds have been asked to comment but at this time are yet to release a statement."

This did that for us.

You don't get the anonymity as a professional athlete, celebrity or whatever. Do the wrong thing, they might not get fired if not in a team, but they might lose gigs, lose jobs, lose endorsements, lose opportunities.

Yeah it might be unfair because a lot of others across the competition are likely doing the same thing, but I guess, unless you are enough of a star to be worth the risk, you're gone.

Sayonara Tyson. Don't agree with the decision at all and hope you find another club. Don't know who stamped his papers but I suspect it was Olsen or our player leadership group. Pretty pathetic outcome. As I have said before if the club thinks they will get rid of the problem by getting rid of the player they are wrong.

I would suggest not.

How many industries would terminate employment for drug use during Annual Leave?

I know a guy who would have a cone each morning before getting into his SS each day to work at Holdens. Worked there for over 20 years never got caught.

He is now self employed. Lawn mowing/yard maintenance. I doubt any of his customers can tell he has about three cones a day.

Very irresponsible, but hides it well.

His main issue will be getting pulled over by cops in a random test.

Can vouch for drug and alcohol consumption being rife at Holdens with very few repercussions.

Also know people who are coke addicts in the mines who manage to get away with it quite easily.

Thing is that's it's not a poor player behaviour culture that's forced us to the bottom. It's the dimwits on the board and the cu,true they fostered throughout admin that infested our senior footy employees. Our leaders have a bit to answer for in allowing the playing group to be impacted, but the players are nit the cause.

Exactly right right. I was one for 20 years and watched 3 young drivers get sacked in a 12 month period. At least another half a dozen went after 3 strikes for booze. This was over 20 years though but I remember those because I worked with them. Felt for the young ones , they all had young families. The others were old, near retirement anyway and had been drinking most of their lives on the job. No testing in their early decades. Caught them out quickly. 0.00 was the booze limit.

Got done for drinking on the weekend and turning up to work sober did they?

And every footballer causing those headlines are routinely terminated?

Was being facetious. Half of every list has recreational drug takers.

Yep, but I read earlier you were against the decision. If he hadn't been caught, he'd still be on the list. I would imagine there's a decent % of blokes on the powder at least.

Not sure any player would survive 3x public indiscretions in 12-18 months, especially those of an alcohol/drug nature

The moral of the story is don't get caught and choose your friends wisely. I think he will get picked up at another club in time if he chooses to focus on football as he has talent. I just feel he has been used as a scapegoat at our club but that's just my opinion. He shouldn't have been signed up last year if they had concerns which they would have at the time. When they signed him they had to back him in warts and all.

Nope, 1 spent the night drinking before he turned up to work. Boss smelt it and reported it to his boss. Tested him. Two of the others got done when Train Control directed the train into a siding where the RBT boys were waiting to test them. Done!. The others were busted by random RBTs. These were known for their drinking. Same with the 3 smokers. Turned up for their shift and RBT blokes were waiting there. Gone!. 0.00 limit is tough to beat.

"But he will not be given another chance by the Crows, who will now pay out a portion of that contract."

So we'll be paying the vast majority of his contract for sure.

If there were genuine grounds for beach of contract we'd be paying nothing

Many moons ago I was a bus driver for Transadelaide and the random breatho guy drove a red 4wd. was amusing to watch all the old guys turn around in the carpark, go home and ring up sick.

Worked out well for the OT hunters 👍
