Roast Tyson Stengle sacked after ****ing up again

I forgot about the party. So four.

He lost his licence as well, ie driving unlicensed when drink driving and driving an unlicensed car. No doubt that was kept quiet.

Four off field issues. All four breaking the law.

How many chances does he get?

Four?..

No. There was the DUI, the cocaine with brad crouch and thats it.

The photo was the “third”..

100% Stengle would of got in trouble again. Its the Betts' that keep him on the straight and narrow.
Which is a damning indictment on the club if we don't have the support structure that can help our players through off field issues

Well he seemed to keep out of trouble last year whilst at WWTFC (helping us to win back to back) and Betts was in Melbourne.

We didn’t put the right support structure around him it would appear. Who would have guessed?

Didn't Dusty have off-field issues at Richmond in 2013 which led to them not wanting to pay him fat stacks and he nearly left the club?

Yeah, I don’t think that’s comparable.

The club played that situation perfectly to avoid overpaying him. And he clearly had a lot of respect for the club.

One by one the potential suitors fell away: some for financial reasons; some for concerns about his lifestyle or image; some because when they spoke to him all he did was talk about how much he loved Richmond and they wondered why on earth he was leaving.

In the end the market was not what Martin or his manager thought it would be.

More likely the realisation it was his last chance at an AFL career.

Had he been the Martin of 3-4 years latter at that time, they would have signed him up despite all these baggage but then Richmond wouldn't have tried to force him out.

When charged with DUI, he also was driving unlicensed. I am pretty sure he would have had his licence so no doubt he lost it.

Agree not four instances breaking the law. Most likely still three times breaking the law and one dodgy photo.

Any other player stay at their club after so many incidents?

He had chances. Also had the option to stay with us.

I really don't understand the mindset of being angry at the club with this one. It is pretty obvious a change of environment and realisation of a lost AFL career fixed him. Two things that could not happen if he stayed here.

Maybe playing SANFL among guys earning a fraction of what he is capable of, plus full time jobs was a reality check for him.

Plus not getting picked up in the mid season draft.

Wait a minute....

How did dogs penalise Bailey Smith for having a bag???

A few weeks holiday? Meanwhile we absolutely bent over Stengle...

The question remains - did we put the right structure around him? I seriously doubt it. We are talking about seasons 2019 - 2020. We were still under the chairmanship of Chapman and Fagan. Enough said.

A question no one here can answer.

There is a point where a guy needs to take responsibility for his own actions.

After four (known) issues there is a tipping point.

Fact is what Stengel supposedly did wasn’t all that much anyway

We shat the bed

If this was the Adidas board, some of our friends here would be saying “Look, we’re really happy for Michael Jordan, but the fact is we made the right decision, he just wasn’t the right fit for us.”

I don't think we had the leadership at the club to support Stengle.

Why wasn't Sloane or any other senior playet getting around him and putting him up for a few weeks to stop him reoffending?

We clearly didn't rate our ability to turn things around for him.

I think it’s easy to point fingers after the fact.

Who knows, maybe the supportive approach wasn’t going to work, and maybe he needed the kick up the arse of getting cut to get things right.

Then again, me personally I don’t give a shit if our players want to take recreational drugs, just don’t be dumb enough to get caught.

JHC, we have 56yos that don’t take responsibility for their own actions (one was a recent former PM) and yet we have no issue crucifying a 20/21 yo at the time of all these offences.

You need to put the right structures in place for those individuals otherwise they are easy influenced (ala Brad Crouch). It isn’t a one size fits all approach.

The club acknowledged he needed additional support than most, given some of his challenges away from football, and sought more, including having Stengle move in with former captain Taylor Walker last year.

I’ll give you a heads up - married couples stick with married couples, singles stick with singles and never the twain shall meet.

Our leadership actually needed to get involved to ensure it is an all inclusive club.
