Lol that wasn't what you said at all but anyway the media will never say a player is on drugs without hard evidence. I don't think anyone in the media has ever said Oliver was on drugs but they do beat around the bush.

But the story that he was off the rails basically started gaining traction right after his injury in the middle of the year. Then it blew up over the off-season and got to the point that a number of commentators were questioning whether he'd ever play the game again.

So it absolutely wasn't just about injury management and his contract as you said initially.
The earliest reports I can find, and the earliest reports I can remember read almost exactly the same as the release about Stengle.

The venues on Moorabool St are absolute dumps of the highest order, why you would go there and get whacked when you are a professional footballer is beyond me.

You must not have looked very hard. Did you miss the entire lead up to that incident where the club threatened to trade him over behavioural issues?

Not to mention the club denying a drug strike rumour in June of that year

Then there was everything that went on about him tattooing his own foot etc. The numerous photos that circulated of him at night clubs and on pokies machines in the early hours of the morning.

This is the best defending of a player scandal I've ever seen from a supporter base. Take notes everyone, this is how it's done when it’s your club.
At a minimum he was out on the cans at 2am mid season after signing a long term big money contract

That alone should be enough to piss cats fan off but nothing
Strange areas

I was about to post the same.

Big group of people calling it what it is, yet the team's supporters are just believing what they want to believe. Drink spiked, ****ing hell.

FWIW I've obviously seen this blind faith way too many times as a Collingwood supporter.

The bloke is clearly cooked off-field still with Geelongs media and off-field management only 2nd in history to the naughties Eagles. Per this thread he's literally been banned from another pub already. Do people understand how that is to do as premiership star footballer?

I do hope he sorts it out before he finishes footy (whenever that is) because that's when it really gets a bit scary

Likely the same ‘illicit recreational substance’ which saw ol Libber suspended for the season, the one that mimics the effects of alcohol but if you take a tiny bit too much you end up up unresponsive and requiring an ambulance. The one that is also used to spike drinks so can be a plausible excuse, but so frequently self administered and dangerous even Revolvers gives lifetime bans for anyone caught using it. Pure speculation of course.

I'm hearing the drink was spiked by the very same kangaroo which caused ex-Cats star Jack Steven to run his car off the road recently and subsequently refuse a drug test.

Story of cocaine use is unfounded. He was harmlessly walking along the bar when he tripped over a patrons shoe laces and landed nose first into a assortment of white powder. At this point he screamed blasphemy and ran to the nearest church to confess his sins and apologise to the lord. Once he was done, he went back to the nightclub in order to organise a group of people to help him out with feeding and clothing the homeless people and only then he collapsed into a heap

Lets wait for the details before these wild theories of everyone come out. The poor decision was going out in the first place, but players do deserve a social life and he's a young guy.
What wild theories?

Im certain you said the same thing in the Clayton Oliver thread............................................................

What wild theories?

Anything without the facts is a theory or some sort. It may be a complete minor issue, which it more likely is. The mistake he made was going out probably and that would annoy the club the most not the after which we know now.

Doubt it, not sure I cared much about Oliver, tend to just wait for the details, pretty sure I'd have said that the contract there was an issue, still is.

The only wild theory in here is that he might have had his drink spiked. Did you miss the part where he had to go to hospital and then Geelong immediately brought u0 the mental health stonewall?

Imagine having your drink spiked and having everyone think you're on the pingers! You would be a mess mentally knowing you did nothing wrong

This excuse worked well for those Collingwood players who claimed their steaks had been spiked.

I assume he can show his credit card showing only one drink purchased. Not 17...

Apparently he was out of there before 2:30am last night and was partially able to walk under his own steam

Has shown willingness to work with the club and his off field stuff has seen an improvement already
