There's some suggestion he may have had his drink spiked.

It's not easy to drink yourself unconscious in only a couple of hours, so I guess it might be possible someone screwed with his drink?
Which drink would you suggest to be the spiked one? Number 1 or 25?

Maybe being out of the bubble it didn't pop up for me, but I didn't see him being in the news for drugs. It was rumoured a lot, and was an open secret of sorts, but don't recall it being openly discussed in the media.
It was implied but the media kept referring to it as a mental health episode

The media rarely reports 'badly' on anyone with health issues.

I know Australia's a really conservative society, but drug and alcohol addictions really are health issues, not moral failings like the government would have you believe.
Fair dinkum, this is the most absurd comment ive ever read here.

Clayton Oliver is proof of this

Clayton Oliver = Gone of the rails, not reliable as a footballer, must be traded but who would want such a person
Tyson Stengle = mental health episode

Gotta have rocks in your head to not have a problem with this

The reaction to the Oliver's behaviour didn't start there, and Oliver's conduct was over a number of weeks and the implication of harder drugs.

Stengle had too many beers one time.

Not really comparable

Hard drugs vs non-hard drugs isnt a thing, You dont think Stengles conduct is over a number of incidents involving drugs?

You can call it out for what it is. Kane Cornes etc are too afraid to comment on Stengle the way they did Oliver so they dont...

Anyone else love the term "health incident"? It's such wonderfully half-arsed spin.

Ok mate, meth is clearly the same as beers, you're right, there's no distinction...

No one went after Oliver until maybe 6 months after his issues started. Even then it was 80% about his footy, 20% about dees contract management

Come on now.

Both are S6 stimulants according to WADA

The rest is garbage. Revising history when it suits yourself

Last time I went to Geelong at night my friends' drink got spiked with benzos and we had to leave him at Werribee hospital because he dipped so hard. Geelong is a shithole so I wouldn't be surprised at all honestly
Get back in time for the end of happy hour?

Give it 2 weeks and it will be "sleep deprived health scare", After a month it will be "Stengle suffered a medical event 4 weeks ago caused by his sensational game vs North Melbourne the day before"

That's the suggestion, makes sense. Not ideal to be out but he's not Robinson Crusoe even in Geelong's history. Like the team against the Dogs 2 weeks ago, he deserves a mulligan here. And probably just a reminder that not a lot of good happens in the early hours of a morning.
Why does it make sense? Who's spiking blokes drinks at Geelong clubs at 2 am, what was the plan - date rape him??

Bigfooty never changes, nuffs will jump to the worst possible conclusions to bury a player from an opposing team while doing mental gymnastics to excuse the obvious at their club.

Aah - where was it proved Oliver was on meth?

You are making an excellent point here - and it's not the one you think, it's the opposite.

Ive heard that Jackson Archer was non too pleased after the game and has a plan.

Come on what? Mainstream media reported it as mental health related for months.
Lol that wasn't what you said at all but anyway the media will never say a player is on drugs without hard evidence. I don't think anyone in the media has ever said Oliver was on drugs but they do beat around the bush.

But the story that he was off the rails basically started gaining traction right after his injury in the middle of the year. Then it blew up over the off-season and got to the point that a number of commentators were questioning whether he'd ever play the game again.

So it absolutely wasn't just about injury management and his contract as you said initially.
