Are you getting over to Chicago during your trip? If so, let me know. One of the BF Bulldogs people was here a few weeks back and we went to a Cubs game together and I showed him a few of the Chicago highlights the next day. It's not every day you can view a city from 103 stories high! If you do make it in December, I'll book some snow for you, but not toooooo much! :D

Won't be in Chicago but maybe one day!
Hoping for some snow in New York in early to mid December.

We are looking into things to do in each city now and have started a decent sized list. Firstly, LA. Thoughts on Disneyland and Universal Studios?

Im told by my friend who is over here at the moment from Cali until December, that Disneyland is a waste of time. She says Universal Studios is good though. She much prefers San Francisco to LA, but then again, she lievs in SF, so maybe thats natural? I have never been there myself, and she has been on my case to head over at some stage ever since we met a few months back, so I am looking at going over in June perhaps, when the weather is good...and when the Montreal GP is on so I can head up there for that also. :thumbsu:

brief comments on the states from my personal experiences. Can expand if you wish.

La - sucks (Disney Awesome)
New York - Rocks big time
Chicago - bleh
Minneapolis - awesome if you are a muso
Houston - had a blast there
Vegas - disappointing

What does everyone have against LA?

Sure, it has it's bad spots, like every other city on the world does.

What about places like Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Santa Ana, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Disneyland, Venice Beach. Those places are amazing.

LA is more of a lifestyle holiday, you go there to experience the lifestyle of people who live there. It requires a lot of time to appreciate.

There's actually very little TO SEE ie. physical and/or historical landmarks etc. The show business part of the city is mostly behind doors since it's a working city.

LA-area beaches? Australia has better beaches.

All depends what you like I suppose, from my point of view the place is filthy, the people are so for up their own asses they can't see out, they must get their drivers licences out of a cornflake packet, nightclubs and bars blah, New York has better, beaches - Australias piss all over them, the only and I mean ONLY things worth going there for is Disney, Universal, to see Capitol records if the whole history of that means anything at all to you and erm.......erm.........nope that's it. Cannot think of any more.

I think that's rubbish. It's a great place. I've been there before. There are plenty of things to do. You just have to know where to find them. I am going for 10 nights in November too. Funny that.lol. Disneyland, Universal, Show Tapings, Malls, Beautiful Views and Drives, Great Restaurants, did I mention Malls and discount outlets? Designer Clothes....Malls.....Shoes.....

all depends what you are looking for I suppose - I have travelled extensively and imo they are better places than LA for me. Show tapings etc hold no interest for me having worked in television for years. If you are talking malls - Mall of America in Minneapolis is THE mall, great Restaurants, New York way way way better, views through the smog and I have seen bigger and better houses in Houston than in Beverly Hills.

But again all depends what you are looking for and what floats your boat. I know where to find the places, have friends that live in LA and have done for their whole lives but I guess just not my cup of tea.

So if one person's opinion is different than another's it doesn't make it rubbish so if your post is any indication of you then I guess rudeness doesn't phase you so LA is a great place to go!
