U19 50 over World Cup

After the easy win against Ireland Australia face Japan.

Japan won the toss and decided (for some reason) to bat.

Looks a sightly unever pitch with reward to the bowlers in the early overs.

Japan struggling to score 1/17 off 7 overs, having just hit their first boundary.

Japan lose their second wicket to a terrible mix up. Awful throw from short square leg to the bowlers end, but it was such a big mix up it didn't matter.

2/62 at the end of the 18th over.

Now 2/68 18.5 overs.

Then we bowl a no ball, with the resulting free hit being what saves the batsman from being clean bowled
Admittedly it was a wild shot because of the free hit.

two quick wickets leaves Japan reeling.

4/107 from 25.3

LBW from the leg spin of Cooray and then Barton with an absolute snorter grabbing the outside edge.

The very next ball was a huge shout for LBW, umpire called runs. But looked like no bat involved. (Or couse, no DRS in this tournament.

But that doesn't sound as good 😂

It's amazing how many try too hard when it comes to a free hit - if he stayed still he would have had a better chance of making contact

Still head = good contact. I remember in my early 40s, rocking up to a local cricket club to roll my arm over. I was watching this kid swing and miss. I asked him if he could see the ball squashing slightly as it hits the bat. He watched the ball all the way on to his bat and hit it (middled it) every time.

He complained that he couldn't see the ball squash, I said "OF COURSE YOU CAN'T IT'S A ROCK! But you've hit every ball since you started looking for it."

Their coach asked me if i wanted to join the club.

In this game though, the Japanese might be in a bit of hot water over their complaining about umpiring decisions.

Tani-Kelly plays 4ths and Taverners u17's in Brisbane (averaging 20 this season), punching well above his weight so far this tournament.

He did get caught a few minutes ago off a no ball, but still has a head for FC style cricket.

Does anyone else think Monty Hara-Hinze just went back to the pavilion and swapped shirts and came back out?

He did it again lol
He needed the bounce for the second one. But a car was crossing the path of the ball along the road when it happened.
