bullants will be down in hoppers crossing today playing old westbourne...should be a landslide victory to the ants... a few handy pickups and a good pre season should see them surprise some people in section 3

Well it was an interesting day at the Nodders, perfect weather and some pretty good footy (not champagne, but not abysmal either).

Mazenod won the first quarter with a flurry of points, Ormond came back in the second with five goals to one. Half time 2-8-20 to 5-4-34. Mazenod pulled it back by kicking 3-3 to 0-1 in the third, with a last minute goal giving Nodders a six point lead. Ormond pretty much surrendered in the last, 6-1 to 1-1 with the final score Mazenod 11-12-78 Ormond 6-6-42.

Not that it means jack shyte since it was only a praccy, but both teams can come away pleased with the potential for the coming season I think.

Bulleen Temp are a team of fatties, they will be lucky to win 5 games this year. Can play some good passages of football, but generally speaking are unfit and lazyness follows. They will need to play 4 quarters of football if they expect to win games this year. As sides wont just surrender when they get behind, as half of them do in section red.

and...........you are

Old Xav(1) defeated Old Carey by about 12 goals, however Old Carey more than competitive with only 17 players available. Old Xavs have no height, but have good strong quick onballers, with ahtletic medium talls

hahahaha, i hope ur not talking about BT....they came back from 11 goals down at three quarter time to win the granny....doesn't sound like they surrender when they get behind.

does anyone know actual scores from the practice matches on the weekend, or just general margins?
I heard, oc, that carey went down by nearer to 20 goals?

i had the pleasure to goal umpire at ten in the morning- wasnt 20 goals- 12-15.. but dont have actual score.. carey were very competitive

How are OC going after that loss in the GF last year ? ? Butch Palmer is a very very good coach but I thought of their better players they looked too slow for Section 1 . . . we shall see

The seniors are officially flying and B Grade bound in 2008 - Unders may then not get too much grief for losing players to senior ranks in 2007 ?

The road trips will keep them very honest - Bernards, Xavs, De La . . .

leg speed looking good, with good mix of bigs and smalls.. jsut looking for a little more depth, but think the team will be very competitive. Saturday may have been a blow-out but is not representative, with 17 players starting- down to 16 fit players by quarter time. Score was 2 goals to 4 at quarter time.

bernards captain back again. had shoulder injury last year and played seniors a few times. hard to say he carryed bernards into finals.
question: are de la playing lower u/19 sides in their praccy games soley because of seniors?
who do people think is going to be the surprise team to contend? rupo scotch marcilon

Yes it is true that dela are playing a few of their better u19 players in the seniors during the preseason because they can pick up to 26 or 28 players. But what makes you think they are playing ''lower'' teams ? convincing victories over Trinity and Collegians ( i know beating a section 3 team and a section 2 team is nothing to write home about but solid wins all the same) suggest that things are rolling along nicely
