Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere it do many people use it? How do you find it? If you use cabs instead why?

Use it quite a bit these days. Find it's usually about two-thirds of what you pay for a taxi. Better cars, Nice drivers that are up for a chat and quicker as well since usually they only about 5 minutes away. Also I've got a 5 star rating no e-brag

Got it around 2 months and havn't looked back. A trip home from the city costs me around $60 compared to $100 using a taxi. More reliable service and friendlier drivers too.

Caught a cab yesterday to avoid the public transport disaster in the Hawthorn area. The driver gave me a code and told me to download an app and enter the code and I get $20 worth of credit for cab rides. Said it was one of the ways they're fighting Uber. Still use Uber though.

In about the year and a half since I started using it the quality of the cars and drivers has dropped off. No filthy cars or drivers with stained shirts, but very normal looking cars with the radio on before I get in and drivers who want to chat because they're bored and less chance of free water and gum. Think a lot of them are taxi drivers who started driving their own cars.

Never used it, when I need to its when they jack their prices up at peak hour. I'll just wait the extra 5 mins for a taxi

Friday and Saturday nights are easily the worst with 'surge' pricing. Cheaper to get a taxi if it's more than 1.5x.

The night before Good Friday I got one with 1.7x and the guy called to say he was coming and asked where about I was standing. After the call ended not me cancelled it and the rate was up to 3.7x. Press the button and the same car took it immediately. He arrived and I asked him what happened about the disconnection and new rate. He says nothing. I say "See ya" and got out and flagged a taxi.

Wondering since you were liking every positive post.

As I agree with all of them. In my experience Uber is an infinitely better experience than Taxi's have ever provided.

Cabs are f***ing shite. Most of my experiences with their drivers have been awful. They deliberately try and get red lights, they'll accelerate hard then slam on the breaks even though they're on the freeway, they'll drive at least ten km p/h under the speed limit, their cabs usually smell like feet and they're just generally f***ing rude. But the worst part is I've noticed lately they're really strict on letting you take an open beer into the car because they think you'll spill it. It's really not that hard drinking an open drink in a moving vehicle without spilling it.

Honestly never used it. Most times I need a driver I'm too legless to drive myself. In which case the coordination of getting a mobile out downloading the app and booking a driver is too much. PT or cab for me still.

"CONTROVERSIAL ride sharing service"

i used it yesterday to get to the airport, i love uber

however, the yanks here are trying to stuff it up by trying to integrate tips into the business model

sometimes i may still tip when in uber, but only if i do have some singles on me, won't go out of my way for it, as the idea is that its supposed to be a cashless service... while putting a tip in before said service makes no sense either
