It use it all the time. Almost always Uber Black.

Nicer cars, nicer service, and sometimes they have complimentary water and lollies which is always good after a night on the turps.

Haha at least Stratton prefaced his brag!

I thought I was booking a car service to get me to my wedding but it turned out a clever Uber driver created a website for his ubering. Picked me up in a beautiful car, was very professional...just like a car service only cheaper!

I only realised it was uber when I saw what was charged on my card statement.

It's not a brag though. I get Uber Black because I'm not getting into Bazza's Daewoo Lanos. It's not because of some notion of prestige. Most of them are only Statesmans/300Cs anyway.

Uber Black pretty much operates like a chauffeured car service, but for like half the price, and without some sweaty bloke called Milos mishandling my luggage.

What would cost me $40 with a normal taxi would cost $25 with Uber.

It is a no brainer really.

Sort of thinking support both cabs and Uber. If cabs ever disappeared Uber would go down hill as they would have a monopoly.
Not in the US - the have Lyft there too and as much as I use Uber in Australia Lyft won out for me over there.

I get all of that using Uber X

Got picked up in a newish GTS not that long ago with Uber x, fair to say I was quite surprised.

Driver put about 5 grand into making it quicker so we were just telling him to go for a hoon and take as long as he wants

Has Uber Pool been introduced in Australia yet?

Looks like Uber X is making a bad start in Adelaide, telling the government they're in and then News Corp they're not, claiming there's too much red tape (because, you know, the Government wants drivers to be insured and not pedos etc).

If Uber X won't jump in, someone else will, and Uber X could face the same face Starbucks did in SA where there were so late in entering the market no one used them and they shut up shop.

Reading between the lines, I'd guess it's because Uber don't really want to accept the level of responsibility for their drivers that the new laws impose on them.

Essentially - they don't want their drivers to have to get Working with Children checks or to have driver assessments or vehicle checks, and they want drivers to have free police checks.

The State Government called out their bullshit claims in this article.

As I said, if Uber X don't come in early, they face being frozen out of the SA market just like Starbucks is when it comes to coffee shops. They won't take that risk, they'll be in.

I was in Adelaide last weekend and was shocked that there was no uber (x). Then I remembered I was in a third world country. Nice wines though.

1. Adelaide isn't a country.

2. We have Uber Black. Because we have standards.

How can you 'almost always' use Uber Black when it's the only Uber available in SA?

Anyway, never catch a cab, so I'm okay with Uber being held to some responsibility *Even if it is just another thinly disguised money grab by the state government.

Because one time a mate ordered an Uber and it was a dirty Toyota Corolla. Assumed it was Uber X and from then on decided I'd never try it.

I only found out Uber X wasn't permitted in SA when I saw it in this thread this morning. :$
