That strategy has worked for him before so you can’t really blame him. The blame lies with United board for hiring him because they should have known what to expect. The other problem he has is his current defenders are not up to the standard of what he has worked with in the past. Yet to his credit he still had them second in the league somehow
Can't disagree with this. The year he won the CL with Inter (2010?), he based it around Diego Milito having a career year and he stacked the defence. Generally had Javier Zanetti playing as a second CDM.

Mou builds defences and then tries to micromanage the attack.

Was hailed for tactical genius against Liverpool, was a 'masterclass'. Now being derided for this result. The difference, Sevilla are a better team than Liverpool and playing in a similar way was not good enough.
Maybe United just aren't good enough to compete in the CL? Mou seems to think so.

An early goal was the key to the way he set up. Got it on the weekend and the game was as good as over even against an attack like liverpools. Here with the away goal threat it was going to be tough

Absolutely dreadful that from Mourinho. In the midst of a disaster for the club tonight, he’s managed to say, “well, remember the times I beat United in the champions league?”. ******* hell.
Is that for real? That's bigfooty standard baiting!!

Liverpool have 1-2 better individual players : Salah (previously Coutinho) but otherwise, pound for pound, Sevilla probably have a better squad.

Sevilla couldn't beat us the 2 times they played us in the group stages and we scored 3 goals on their home deck and topped the group.

These results were when you had Coutinho. I wouldn't say that losing your best player will improve your squad. There is a case to argue that Sevilla are better than Liverpool, certainly at least their equal.
