That's the issue, he's made the right call here, but in other instances he hasn't. We want consistency that's all.
No you want perfection, which in life is hard to find. Thought Oliver did alright. I’ll watch out for him in the PL as I don’t often pay attention to any one particular referee

I think you're confusing what I'm talking about. I'm not saying I want every call a ref makes to be absolutely perfect, I'm saying when given the same situation against two different teams, I want refs to make the same call in both instances. Same goes for the time in the match in which it occurs. A foul in the first 30 seconds should be a red if it would be after 60 minutes, etc.

No I understood what you were driving at SM, but how difficult do you imagine it is being a top level referee and how hard it must be to show absolute consistancy with every single decision you make - considering all the variables that are at play? It’s too easy to sit there and judge. Yes call out the blatant inconsistencies or terrible calls - and refs are punished for those (on occasions). The speed the game is played and the fact that it is so difficult for refs to be 100% consistent are reasons we are likely to have VAR brought in.

That's literally all I'm talking about mate. Inconsistencies between one game and the next where it's a penalty in one game but not another from the same ref in the same situation. Of course no two incidents are identical, but there's been some pretty obvious ones.

"Last minute of a quarter final - you don't pay those".

It's honestly the most infuriating concept. A pen is a pen. Always. First minute or last. Not based on subjective views or the 'romance' of the game. This is where refs usually get it horribly wrong but props to Oliver for making an objective and accurate call. It certainly hasn't been his forte in the past.

This literally happened. What are tonight's Powerball numbers?
Pretty crazy, Can't argue with the decision but sometimes the ref can let a little go, Barca and Real get the rub of the green a fair bit, Just as Juve get every 50/50 in Italy.

Clutch penalty though, To put it top corner wow, 2 keepers would struggle to stop that.

Yep, this concept of 'consequence of the decision' is garbage and I've heard it over and over on Ref Watch on Football Today where they say that while it's a foul it's not a penalty because it's a 'minor' foul. WTF?
