Is it a rule to strip the champ?

Or something made on the fly?
Not sure exactly what the rule says but it's always been the case that if you don't make championship weight then you're ineligible to take home the belt.

Pettis missed weight vs Holloway for the vacant interim and wasn't able to take home the belt.

Yeah I know that but stripping the champ seems a bit over the top

I agree but what's the alternative? They either make it a non-title fight, or they cancel the fight.

I'd love to see more firm rules around this as well as how interim belts work in general. But Uncle Dana loves to make things up on the fly so we'll never get it.
