Credit to Belal, hell of a fight. JDM slipping out the back on those takedowns in the fifth and probably that long combo that split the difference. Thought his countering in round 1 was really strong. JDM had the volume there but gave the first to Belal.

Fair play to JDM, not many would have given him a chance. Not to piss on his parade, but very strange Belal didn't mix up his "Canelo boxing" with more takedown attempts - have only seen the higlights & Jack mentioning that he felt his foot work had him second guessing a knee smashing him up the middle if he went for one. Looking forward to watching it in full.

And how did Zahabi stay conscious after Aldo, if he connected, with those soccer kicks. The 1st one looked absolutely frightening.

JDM was faking the knee and also taking the lead and rear uppercut alot. He was also only doing 2-3 punch combos then exiting from the side. Made it difficult for Belal to walk him into the cage

Got to give Belal props, he brought it that's for sure, goes to show you can be exciting to watch with the right dance partner.
I've read this a bit online. He was tough sure, but he was only entertaining because JDM stuffed his takedowns and moved well. Belal in every inch of his body wanted to take him down and bore the audience

Very good fight - both of them brought it. Agree with Topkent that Belal was restricted in what he could do to an extent, but still, he didn't really seem to push for takedowns as often as he usually does, though he did get close enough to attempt some before the latter rounds - danger of his entries & both of them being more tired withstanding. I think Jack knew what to expect & they did their homework on Belal, locked it in on the night & was a comfortable 4-1 to JDM for me, wouldn't complain about the 48/47s.

I have more of a will to see him fight Shavkat over Islam if I'm honest. But for the Islam fight, I hope he heals up & decides when to go again (I think he will) but will still be an annoyance when Islam's dopey manager goes on Twatter and starts shiteing on 'Bratha, why you avoid me?'

Exactly, JDM made him fight, that's why he's always in good fights I think.

Hopefully it'll be Islam JDM and Volk evloev on the Perth card
Chuck Erceg on there and Jenkins and you've got your Aussie card

I would love this but assuming they'll separate JDM and Volk's first defences, they'll want to get two PPVs out of it (and sting the **** out of the Aussie fans with ticket prices x 2)

That would be epic for the Aussie fans. Have to have Jack on that card & Volk will be game unless he breaks both legs in training. Doesn't seem to be a date for it, except 'mid-year' Fight Night - not anymore. Maybe throw Adesanya on it as well, he's probably on his way out & it's a fight close to home for him. I reckon if JDM is banged up they might move the date to accomodate him.

He attempted 9 takedowns the entire fight. The average Belal goes for about 9 a minute. He came to prove something with his stand up and failed (and walked away with some nasty injuries), but won more fans than he did as a champion.

Nah, he got stuffed on his takedowns and lost confidence in going for it because Jack kept such a good movement pace and distance. Belals been one of the most win at all costs fighters ever. He didn't just give up on that plan. Even when he did clinch Jack got out and scrambled out of both takedowns. It was a masterclass from JDM and Belal was shown up as pretty average
