What probably won't get mentioned in coming days (like Scott Morrison in May) is his party has changed leaders in government multiple times in recent years. By no means assured of keeping the top job until 2024.

No one cares, all anyone cared about was stopping Corbyn. Boris is now a hero

Just announced minimum wage increase 4 times greater than the inflation rate.

But he is still evil and doesnt care about poor people.

Right ?

Playing catch up after a decade of wage stagnation
We'll be seeing a lot of this in the near future: making a big deal out of putting back some of what's been cut

But what of Tory darlings the small business owners?

But the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) said "an increase of this magnitude" means firms may recruit fewer people, cancel investment plans or consider redundancies.
"There's always a danger of being self-defeating in this space," said Craig Beaumont, FSB director of external affairs and advocacy.
"Wage increases aren't much good to workers if prices rise, jobs are lost and there's no impact on productivity because employers are forced to cut back on investing in tech, training and equipment

He wasnt PM over the last decade.

Its the largest increase in the history of the minimum wage in the UK.

So are you saying increasing the minimum wage is a bad thing ?

But his party was
Any idiot can switch everything off and tell you they're saving money
Switching things back on again is no great achievement in itself

And I'm saying that the FSB are saying that it's not as simple as just giving people a long overdue raise

But is it a good or a bad thing?

Simple economics. Wage growth/rise has to be offset by productivity as well. Productivity in the UK has stagnated since 2007 and has barely grown. Does it justify a rise? well socialists will say yes. UK productivity is way worse than Germany. On an average UK workers are 26 percent less productive than Germans.

That'll be great for inflation. Sudden increase in spending money coupled with no productivity increase will negate the pay increase in no time flat. Back to square one then, only with fewer producers, i.e. minus the ones forced out of business. So back to square one-minus. But what the hell. Who cares? It was a vote winner.

Very low levels of unemployment. They can handle payrises.

Low income people getting a payrise is way better for the economy than rich people getting a tax cut. Because low income people will spend it.

Rich people will save it.

Johnson is giving tax cuts to high earners - have you not read his manifesto?

when the British car industry was nationalised it was dead on arrival as the private British business model had already killed it. The private British motor industry was competing with state of the art Japanese and German cars with 50s technology in 40s factories and competing using low wages. It was a model destined to fail and it did. Lord Nuffield, the owner of Morris Motors used to boast how little he invested in the company. No matter how much socialists like to change facts, they can’t be changed!

But coming back to the point: why not increase it to 10.50 pounds by Johnson promised in his manifesto? what percentage of people are low income compared to the rich people? you cannot increase the minimum wage while productivity is going down. You can do but you will pay a price, the only people who will argue for it are socialists. A 50p rise will probably add an extra £10 net to a full time worker’s pay packet and that they will lose in benefits. Really this is about raising taxes on businesses than doing anything for the poor.

How long can Boris be a ‘one nation’ Tory when all the one nation Tories were expelled?

they are grateful to him now, but a week is a long time in politics

The new attorney general is a member of a controversial religious sect which continues to venerate its founder despite well-documented claims that he was a serial sexual predator, the Observer can reveal.

Suella Braverman is a mitra – Sanskrit for “friend” – within the Triratna order, one of Buddhism’s largest sects, which has been rocked by claims of sexual misconduct, abuse and inappropriate behaviour.

The UK goes from strength to strength thanks to the Tories, with the compulsory BBC licence fee set to be scrapped if Tory ministers get their way.

Cam anyone cite when a treasurer quit so soon after an election?

‘I can only think of Keating, and that was for an obvious challenge

media strangely muted on such an unusual occurrence
