i think it was in the 2nd q when the umpires gave 2 poor decisions in a matter of 2mins leading up to half time and you guys were behind by 30odd points

other than that the had a good game...even the goalies

The Crows were crap well before the Umpires made a few blunders up the northern end in the 2nd quarter (hello umpire # 32!).

Cant blame the umpies for the loss, Don's were too good, Crows were not up to it from the opening minute.

Sure the umpires made a few mistakes, but absolutely didn't affect the outcome of the game in any way.
There were some mindboggling ones through the course of the night that didn't go our way (the freekick count was entirely misleading - it's not how many are paid but where they're paid and the ones that aren't) but I agree with you 110% - the umpies didn't make a difference to the result in the end.

The behind that hit the point post in the 4th quarter was big point to give since the game was 18 pts, luckily for the umpires credibility it wont be outlines cause the crows end up getting flogged.

The behind was also kicked after a crows player was blatantly pushed in the back in the contest.

I thought the umpiring benefited Essendon though, but they were clearly the better and hungrier side.

Well, the umpires were bad, but they weren't as bad as we were, so I can't complain.

noooo I can complain - when umpires blatantly miss free kicks for us that they then turn around and pay for the opposition. I don't want MORE free kicks - I just want the ones that are there!

Okay, you complain about the umpires, I'll worry about the sad state of my football team.

Umpriing this year has been as bad as I have ever seen it, and I watch alot of neutral games where I have no interest in the outcome.

I dont think the bad decisions usually cost a game but they often do not help paint an accurate picture of the result or margin, especially in low scoring games.

I think in our game (Kangaroos) against Sydney, the swans got about 4 absolute shocking free kicks within 15m of goal, we lost by 11 goals and it wouldnt have made a difference but the margin was not helped by poor umpiring.

If you miss out in finals games due to percentage then the accumulation of very average umpriring does have a very real effect.

I dont think we should excuse poor umpiring just because it doesn't affect the outcome of a game.

If a team wins by 20 goals, or if they win by 1 point I expect an equally high standard of umpiring.

The umpiring was acceptable on Friday night, but not great. There were 2 or 3 extremely poor decisions made.

By far the worst call was Clarke on Allan at a centre bounce. The players were wrestling and Allan lost his balance, then threw himself backward. I had a great view of the incident, the umpire was not even looking at the rucks when the contact was made, he was looking straight up at the ball. When he looked back down all he would have seen was Allan falling back with his arms in the air. Basically the umpire guessed that Clarke infringed illegally.

We're always told by the AFL that umpires only make decisions they're certain about but it's quite clear to me that several umpires often feel they have to pay a free kick even when they're not clear exactly who should be getting it or why.
