Spoiling the ball first does not eliminate the too high rule.
Contesting a mark/spoiling does eliminate the too high rule, it is in the rules and has been for a long time, the stance people are going with here is that it would be a free to jump for a mark because you hit someone’s back or put your knee above their shoulders.

Not sure if people watch a lot of football, but I have seen plenty of head high hits from the side, front and back with players connecting with the ball and head. Free kick every day of the week. Why, the head is sacrosanct and more importantly it’s a high hit!!!

Ps. Poor Walker nearly lost his head last week and got a fifty - pretty sure Harry was down longer from a legitimate hit.
Walkers head got wind burn at the very max, should have got a fine for staging

So players illegally not getting a handball or kick out when tackled

Players throwing or one handedly dropping the ball when tackled

Players being allowed a 360 spin to illegally dispose of the ball

Players who are tackled without any prior opportunity are penalised

Players are being grabbed and flung without the ball after the initial contest

The 15 metre rule is horrendous

It’s become a farce. As long as the play can continue, you can throw it or drop it. I wish our team could learn ‘how to’…discretely.

Just proves that the AFL doesn't listen to Carlton (or that we are pathetic and don't communicate to the AFL the real issues we are dealing with) either are typical and both are expected.
It's got nothing to do with Carlton. There's just no accountability with the AFL when it comes to umpiring. No wonder the standard never improves.

I am convinced these constant umpires and ARC **** ups are intentional to keep the latest round of games in the news until the next round. The AFL has been turned into a 365 day news cycle.

Did not impact the result so who cares but..... the umpiring in the game against Port was shocking.

The round arm chop on Derka while he was trying to mark it.

Someone ran into Cerra with his face while trying to tackle - free kick against Cerra.

So many absolute howlers.

The standard of umpiring is so poor right now.
