Sam Newman is right - its going too far now, the umpiring is an absolute joke!
Who saw last nights Ess v Foots game?
Forget that Im an Essendon fan, but as a footy fan the umpiring could only be described as second rate!
Every second time Essendon went forward they would pluck out a Footscray free kick in that first half, and what topped it off was in the 2nd term - Darcy takes a mark in a pack, the umpire calls play on, and waves his hands like an idiot, then must of heard the crowd go ape-droppings, then changed it to a mark!
What the hell is this? Forget that it was a mark, an umpire can NEVER change a decision -Its absolutely terrible for the game!
They have over-umpired every game this season - also, what the hell IS that tapping on the arse they do?

While we are on the topic...

how much do you reckon those umpires had on the kangaroos today...

We (Coll) were beaten on the day anyway, but the umpiring, especially early when the match was up for grabs, was the absolute worst display I have ever seen in my life.

Those three Hansie's should never umpire a match again...

You cannot be accidentally/unintentionally that bad.

I agree changing the decision is worrying...

But I think in that case, the correct decision was made, and it did not interrupt the play much (not like he made a decision then called play on)...

I think umpires changing their decision can be ok in certain circumstances... such as when McLeod dropped that chestmark vs collingwood that was paid before he held it.

When he dropped it, instead of giving him the kick, the umpire should have said:
"I made a mistake, but can't call play on... so I'll ball it up..."


That would make more sense than giving McLeod a kick he didn't deserve.
