Kidding urseLf if u think that was a free kick. Was 10 meters from Simpson, knew he had no chance so milked contact with the Carlton bloke shepherding. The umpire would of been sent to the bush if he'd paid that!!

P*** off you idiot, it was atrocious and blatant. You've just done yourself in, as a shepherd can only be within 5 metres and this was one of the worst I've seen. Not to mention the neck high coathanger. Here's the proof, now leave troll.

So ur telling me if hypothetically Lovett-Murray grabbed the ball at half back took 4 bounces through the middle and slotted a goal u wouldn't b miffed if it was called back cause marc murphy knowing he couldn't catch him milked a free kick against an Essendon shepherder??

Happy to say the blues got away with a few early on in the game, but no way was that incident a free kick.

I'd be hugely miffed, because based on the precedent set yesterday it's not against the rules.

That's such a dumb thing to say btw. Like, so you're telling me hypothetically if Garlett marked the ball 30m out from goal and tried to play on and burn Fletcher, but was caught by a bloke who's the best part of 36, you wouldn't be miffed? Just as irrelevant, the shepherd was illegal and should have been distinguished as such.

my only real issue with the umps yesterday was the number of incorrect disposal/dropping the ball/tackles that were not paid & Carazzo at the end there, surely thats play on - it was definitely holding the ball & probably a push in the back, which comes 1st chicken or the egg:confused:

either I dont know the rules or the umps just make it up as the go along, becomes very very frustrating

Carlton had every chance to win & still couldnt, we had every excuse to lose & didnt, so I dont blame the umps, I congratulate our mob for sticking it to them all once again:D

Was at the game yesterday and i think the umpiring rules (not just the umpires), are a friggin disgrace...I mean if i took an international to his first game i dont think I could explain the rules anymore because they keep changing the interpretation.

I want to know what defines "holding the ball", in the first half I believe there were several instances when the tackler should have been rewarded yet because his tackle has forced the ball free the umpires call play on, whatever happened to incorrect disposal....

I miss the times when a player took the tackler on, got caught and the Crowd would Scream " BALL, (umpires calls holding the ball), YEAH".

What annoys me more is if a free kick opportunity arises in the forward line they put away their whistle yet in the second half they award a holding the ball for less obvious infringements because it's in the middle.

From a guess i think Jetta has made 4-5 great tackles this year without reward.

Without wanting t continue this oN too much, but are we talking about the same incident. The one I'm referring to sees Carazzo get in front of Jetta, extend his arms across Jetta's chest at which point Jetta latches onto Carazzo's arm, flays his legs off the ground and proceeds to drag Carazzo down. If anything it was a free kick to Carlton!!

What pissed me off yesterday was the one-off free kicks Carlton got.

Melksham wrapped up immediately on getting the ball. Free kick to Judd. Not paid again for the rest of the day.

Duigan drops the ball, gets a free for holding the man. Not paid again all day.

But my absolute favourite was Yarran taking on 3-4 tacklers with his head, and not getting pinged.

the carry on about this is hysterical, it was missed and just one of many events in the game so we should all move on, but this comment above is beyond ridiculous.

Dont think the Jetta one was a free, he played for it but what else could he do. Holding the ball is the biggest joke of all time. First half they didnt pay heaps to us yet Carlton got plenty of soft 50/50's. Easch week im seeing duplicates of the Stanton non-paid free V Sydney get paid. Its a raffle.

It was payed once more; to Judd again. Not sure who he tackled, but they had about 0.4 sec to dispose of it.

Anything in that last tackle on Monfries, a second before that last behind? Looked as though there was a Carlton bloke laying on his back ala Stanton in Sydney.

27 secs

EDIT: Nothing in it, play on.

He's not latching onto anything. It was a blatant high shepherd.

Have U got 1/2 second before, when Carazzo's arm is under Jetta's armpit. This photo is taken after Jetta begins his dive. At no stage does Carazzo touch anywhere above his chest line, yet he flings his head back? Can't believe this is even being discussed.

Eugh. High contact was made by Carazzo (obvious lack of shepherding experience or prowess shown by that slime) and, as you've previously identified, was further than 5m from the ball. Free kick Essendon.

Carazzo's elbow is clearly being pushed through Jetta's face. You're deluded.

Well Jetta had tackled him, he didn't dispose of the ball correctly (he had prior opportunity), then Stanton came in and got into Carazzo's SIDE. So no idea why the it wasn't holding the ball?? Or even play on?? Definately shouldn't have been push in the back..
Ahh well chalk up another win that the umps have stolen from us...

YOU HAVE TO TRY TO GET RID OF IT. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG YOU HAVE IT - YOU HAVE TO TRY TO GET RID OF IT. christ we've been through this before. Melksham's free-kick was there, and plenty of other no attempt free-kicks were paid.

There is a minimal amount of time that a player requires to process that they are being tackled and then to attempt to get rid of the ball. It was physiologically impossible in both of the Judd cases.

They do not pay incorrect disposal of the ball nearly enough. Player cannot be allowed to just drop the ball, ffs.
