During 3rd quater (before the incident) I think Eddie said, Kennedy has awarded 10 free kicks to 1 to Melbourne.

sif i watched the game (im a crows supporter) and i didnt think it was that bad!!

i thought if anything melbourne were robbed, the Nietz incident was almost an equiliser for when Robertson took one step after recieving a handball and got penalised for holding the ball!

that was harsh!

Nietz free kick was there to the letter of the law, but how many time do you see it not paid??

just on that dodgey 9er by neitz, can someone please tell me why it was worth 9 points. I thought down field freekicks were only worth 6, cos in the first qtr, when melbourne got their first goal, it was from a downfield freekick yet it was only worth 6....

So we should have got a 9 pointer at the start?

Amazing how they can stuff something like this up. I mean, it cost us a spot in a Grand Final. I'm not bitter about it, just amazed that they could stuff something up. It should have been an extra 3 points. We lost by 1. Grand Final on the line.

Ah well, **** happens.

no the first one was correct in only being 6 and the 2nd was correct in being 9!

first one was a player being fouled after disposal, this is only a 6 point shot as the ball was already in the 50!

the 2nd was 9 because the incident occured when the ball was in another players possesion, and the incident occured off the ball whilst outside 50, therefor it was a shot for 9!

melbourne werent robbed, geelong wouldve been unlucky to lose, get on with life its only the wizard cup anyways!

go geelong against those other 2 teams!

I didn't think we were robbed. I'm disappointed with the result, but not with any decisions.

It sounds like the first one should have been a 9 pointer.

The free kick was paid because of the push after disposal. That was outside 50m. Yet, the free kick was taken upfield inside 50. That means it was a downfield free kick, just the same as the other one. It should have been a 9 pointer if that's the case.

So many soft free kicks calling that good umpiring means you have the intelligence of Ali in his present state or the pinpoint vision of ray charles.

Stop using umpiring as an excuse

Excuse? We won the game, why would we need an excuse?

I know umpiring is a hard job, I've done it myself, but there is no defence for the rubbish dished out last night. None.

The amount of soft free-kicks Melbourne got in the 2nd half! I was at the game, and at the game i give the umpires the benefit of the doubt 90% of the time unless its an absolute shocker, but after watching the reply! Oh well, got the result, thats what matters :)

And that’s why the umpiring continues to be substandard; people are accepting mediocre performances by the umpires.

Most umpiring is very good, considering how difficult it is. Yes, they screw up, but they do as good a job as they can. The problems are in the interpretation of the rules, but they can only do what they are told to by the umpiring administration.

Look, it's not so much the stupid decisions that annoy us. I think everyone knows umpiring is a hard job and that Jeff Gieschen is a moron hell-bent on mediocrity.

What's infuriating and downright suspicious is when the umpiring is of a singularly low standard as it was Friday night, and with a lopsided free kick count. It was something like 20-10 in Melb's favour. That indicates that the other mob were getting a fair few soft decisions in their favor with relatively few in ours.

Incompetence is one thing. Biased incompetence is something else altogether.
