Yes, they let it go.......

Well what does that mean?

It means that holding / scragging skilful players off the ball was ignored. It means blatant pushes in the back was ignored. It means holding the ball was thrown out of the rule book for the day.

Well if that's what you guys want then clubs should recruit thugs rather than skilful players and we should go back to one umpire who is only there to bounce the ball.

The umpiring was orchestrated to favour the negative, aggressive style of play of one side only.

Pity we learnt that Sydney has no club though. Poor NSW fans, not only the Melbourne media but their coach and at least one players said it was a win for the 'bloods'. You NSW people just learned you support a Melbourne team.

Could this sound anymore pathetic?

your team just copped a swift kick where it hurts, we aren't going to take anything you say seriously while you're still recovering :p

So that means you'd be in the 1% who want to see umpires blowing their whistle at every opportunity and imposing themselves on the game.

I don't like to say it but well done G...G...Gol...Golds....Goldspink

Nope.....my team got to a grand final and played fantastically in a year we never expected to make the top four. I am extremely proud of them. They have outperformed every expectation that may have been had of them, they are a very young group and I'm rapt for our season and our future. No recovery needed here.

Great day umpires, and good work on creating the thread, quite often people get scrutinised in this position than congratulated, great work!

Nice coming from a Carlton supporter. Apart from a few wins by cheating the salary cap your team has done nothing and are cellar dwellars...I hope that sounds good because it's the truth.

What's your point?

The umpires were very good today, made very few mistakes. There really weren't any opportunities to pay holding the ball, so I can't see why people are complaining. If you follow the rules, you'll find that there were very few legitimate holding the ball claims.

It is ironic that there are some who are complaining that West Coast was robbed by the umpires, they wouldn't have been there if it weren't for the men in white.

ok, we've gone from anger to denial, what's next on the spectrum?

In isolation, the first quarter was an umpiring debacle. The rest of the game was generally of a high standard (in that we never heard from them, they let the game go and play itself out).

Well done, sorta.

Now is it possible for the afl to allow an entire season to be treated this way?

The umpiring was a ********ing joke. I guess the AFL had influence in that since they got what they've been wanting for the last decade. You were robbed WCE supporters. The national game is just great isn't it?

What were the scores again - particularly WC score?

It was a debacle, it was almost a raffle every contest if they would take not of one infringement or another or none at all. No consistency at all throughout the day

Soft ruck free kicks were paid throughout the day, but a bloke had to be murdered in a marking contest

Anyone who felt the umpiring was great has no idea, just because they ignored everything you think it was good? A couple of early holding the ball decisions would have got the game free flowing, oh wait then Sydney would have been ********ed, but no they decided to let Sydney slow up the game.

To have a game with so many stoppages and no holding the ball is a disgrace and shows the umpires simply didnt want to pay anything because they didnt want to be blamed

Guess judging by this thread, it worked. No tough decisions and everyone loves them, forget the ones they missed
