Moving away from us, because this issue isn't just about us.
The free to Breust today for in the back was DEAD SET CHEATING.
As some of the greats of the game commentating all agreed, it was holding the ball.
And last nights deliberate rushed behind against the Swans..........
Just because a player gives up the chase (Picken) doesn't mean the defender is no longer under pressure, unless said defender has two pairs of eyes.
DEAD SET CHEATING!

Well, just saw the best dead set cheat for the year.
Scumpire pinged StKildas Montagna for swearing, while the ball was in motion, and gave a 50 metre penalty which resulted in a goal to the Cats.
Montagna argued the point saying he had only said "soft bump" scumpire said "sorry if I've got that wrong".
Sorry? You cost the team a goal in a contest where the lead is changing every few minutes you muppet!
Why are we allowing these cheats to make decisions on what their imagination conjures up?
They are having to much influence on the result with their imagination, not the actual facts.

One of my current pet hates.
And I've just seen it again in the Dees Tiges game.
A team mate runs FROM BEHIND to effect a sheppard.
But he is BEHIND the opponent and simply grabs his arm and pulls him away from the player with the ball.
This is not a sheppard. Never has been because the shepparder is BEHIND the opponent.
Yet it happens game after game.
Dead Set Cheats.

Umps certainly tried their hardest to get Geelong back into this match, fortunately the cats often struggled to get the ribbon off their gifts. In the last 10 minutes:
  • Treloar held in the centre, no free, tries to kick it off the ground pinged for kicking endanger - Geelong goal
  • Treloar "fell into the back" of a Geelong player - Geelong goal
  • Hawkins 2 hands in the back, no free - Geelong point
  • Hawkins again 2 hands in the back, no free, forward 50 entry - Geelong point
  • Geelong player replicates the action of Treloar against Hoskin-Elliott, no free - Geelong point
Dead set cheats.

Like I said in the game day thread my grandmother who can hardly see (is half blind), was reading a Take 5 magazine... and she could still see that Treloar was being held (in the last qtr).

Officiating in this sport is a joke.

I don't usually get on the umpires were woeful side of things. But, they were ****ing woeful in that last quarter.

There was a pretty blatant kicking in danger by a Geelong player ignored by the umpires in the last quarter too. The Pie who nearly had his wrists broken was either Treloar or Sidebottom (can't quite recall) and it looked to be on the members wing/half forward on the boundary. He appealed to the umpire, but nothin'.

Pretty sure it was sidebutt from memory, I saw it too and was shocked it wasn't paid.

I've watched our last game again with particular attention to the officiating.
And I feel this is a game that we can put the men in green to the test, as we did win it.
All I ask is consistency in the interpretation of our, let's face it loosely written, rules.
How many times during the game were our players pinned for htb? The whistle was fast whenever we touched the ball and it spilled out of the contest. And ough it took more time, if we were tackled in the ground you just knew what the decision would be.
Compare this to the way htb was officiated for our opponents.
A player is spun 360, TWICE, the ball spills loose from a very dubious handball and it is called play on.
I have seen at least three incidences, where the WC player has dived at the ball effectively pulling it to themselves, yet the whistle is very quick not allowing the time that is needed for a htb decision, or for the ball to clear.
This is inconsistant, this is dead set cheating.
And I'm only up to 3/4 time!
I legitimately hate umpires. They are not normal. They are, on the whole biased and have the personality traits which can be summarised as "fukwits"
The fact they are the type of person who want to be umpires is the reason.

I also believe they are told how to officiate games by the AFL week to week specifically to "shape" results, possibly unwittingly, they are that open to suggestion.

In a pre-civilisation world, they would have been overwhelmingly voted "the bait", when hunting vicious carnivores, usually tied to a large rock.

Winners are grinners people.........

Doesn't excuse the performance of the officiating though.
Win or lose, the officiating needs to be highlighted in the hope that it can get better.

Yeah....nah......I don't think they influenced the game.

Varcoe off and tiring in the last had a greater influence IMO.........but who am I to stop a good umpire bashing.

You forgot Goldsack perfect push in the back last quarter.
Don't think we got one free kick inside our 50.

Sorry to disagree with you on this but had Geelong kicked straight most certainly would have influenced result!
It is not so much if they are there or not, all I want is consistency!

It's pretty blatant Hawkins got away with three obvious hands in the back.
Cloke couldn't get a free kick if he was being knifed on the field for the Pies but suddenly when he dons the Dogs colours he's a superstar to be protected.
It's not only Pies either.
For years now when teams are getting thrashed late in the third quarter the umpiring changes.
There can only be one explanation - one sided games get people turning off the coverage.

There seems to be a clear want to avoid blowouts in favour of close games.

You are obviously blind or...an umpire.....the last quarter was a travesty of bias.

LOL, we are bagging the umpires in a win.

I'd imagine if you went to the Geelong board they'd give examples of frees they should've got.

Dead set cheats?

Have a hard look at yourselves.:)
