Big part of the reason they got back into it and got ahead was the umpiring.

I was at the Sydney game at Vicky Park when supporters jumped the fence because of the umpires that day ........this game was worse!

Glad many others bumped this saved me searching for it. Clarkson said it best last night... DISGRACEFUL!!! Very clearly 2 sets of holding the ball rules on display today and further most of our frees were the ones they give simply to pretty the stats sheet... you know those ones which don't impact the game as we've already got the ball and cleared the previous contest.

The Dees have always had the rub of it on Queen's Birthday. I remember in the mid-2000s Ben Holland would literally tackle Anthony Rocca to the ground in every marking contest they had. In another game there was an infamously bad non-decision where Russell Robertson pushed his man under the ball firmly with two hands in the middle of the back - and this came at the height of the hands-in-the-back craze which saw Cloke and Rocca get called about six or seven times for hilariously incidental contact.

A lesson I learned a long time ago: save yourself the heartache of Queen's Birthday, they're very rarely fair outings. Just pretend you're a Dees fan for the weekend and book a trip to Buller.
