Spoke to the club today and told them if they don't fix the umpiring issues, I'm not renewing next year. They said they are working on it, but it's not something they can control. Said, don't care, whatever they are doing isn't working, I'm not enjoying going to or watching games anymore after 20 years a member. Better things to spend time and money on.

Did the same thing and when they told me "We can't do much about it" - I told them they can start posting facts on media outlets and we have plenty of ex Tiger greats in the media that can back up those facts. I did mention our 12 reserve seats have been empty bar one game this year and chances are slim that we return at all this year. The club are aware that members are missing this year and they know it will get worse next year.

Devils advocate but what exactly would that achieve?
If the clubs have a process to lodge complaints with the afl internally what exactly is the benefit of calling it out publicly

It’s not like the afl are going to come out and say anything confirming the accusations anyway

If people are that passionate the only thing I could say is go down to the next AGM and ask the questions there

It’s not just the fact we get paid less free kicks. There’s levels to this. One aspect is, and someone mentioned it before, we seem to get a heap of our free kicks once the game is over. So we may lose the free kick count 20-13 but at one point, it was probably 18-4.

I also want to see the stats on how many scores have resulted from a free kick for us vs opposition. I’d be willing to wager a good amount of money that the opposition average more points per free kick than we do. Just the weekend game alone, I recall Freo kicking at least two goals direct from free kicks and none for us.

Rarely get f50 frees , I just about had a conniption when lynch got two v blues , so one said they had 4G from 50m penalties yesterday ,,,why are our infringements always overlooked if an oppo lingers on a hold after a mark,,,,that’s precisely what 50 was for

The spineless approach by our club to the umpiring since 2018 is the opposite of the reason I startied supporting it. We were a club to be feared but are now a timid pathetic woke club with **** all interest to taking on city hall. If that attitude don’t change then my support is gone

Yeah 30 year member who hasn’t renewed the last two. The Brisbane final did it for me, total corruption and crickets after we asked a please explain. The S hocking rule changes added to it all along with the afl signing off his departure straight back to club land. I still shake my head too over the 5 day break between the first two rounds after playing in near 30 degree heat. Only us.
How we seem to let it all go without a whimper is not right, and it just shows how hard the AFL has their foot on club’s throats.
Game is just unwatchable.
Still invest in other ways with the club so they still get my dollars.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Gale’s legacy ruined by his own self interest (doesn’t want to upset CFL for fear of losing his plum Tassie gig).

They can do something about it, ******* highlight it after the game, tell the media we want to seek some clarity on why our free kick differential is the worst in the league for 10 years.

* me Freo win the free kick count 21-10 and yet Longmuir still highlights that their young forwards aren't being looked after. Have we ever come out and said we want some clarity over why Tom Lynch never gets easy frees?

Weekends game show the non-free kick call for Freo in a tackle then show exactly the same one where we got called holding the ball, there is lots we can do a lot of it has to be visual, being the AFL is run by dickheads who can't read.

I'd also make sure it wasn't a 30minute meeting either, id book in an hour meeting and bring along tonnes of examples and s**t calls.

The club and us supporters have to avoid this issue being condensed to analysing individual decisions within each game … because the game is full of contentious calls where the umpire can be deemed to have been correct for all three outcomes … free for, free against or play on.

And if umpires look hard enough there would literally be a free kick that ‘could’ be paid in 90% of marking contests and 50% of groundball scrums…. so picking out single decisions is futile.

The focus has to be on the unexplainable discrepancy in our frees for-against over an 8-year period. And the anomaly of teams who play against us averaging markedly less frees conceded against us than all other teams, removing the red herring of ‘it’s the way we play’.

If the AFL genuinely cares about integrity they need to get to the bottom of why discussions in the corridors of power in the umpiring world clearly have a ‘wink wink, nudge nudge’ screw Richmond over narrative. It’s not made up or a conspiracy theory… any stats man will tell you something more is at play to see the numbers we have for 8-years.

An ‘anomaly’ or ‘bad luck’ doesn’t explain it… not even close.
