How would Blobbo know it was 14.5 metres. Rubbish if you have ever seen it.. Did he get his tape measure out? Drunken sloth.
Apparently they do that stupid segment of how far (normally its kicks outside 50) Robbo wanted to say 17.5 metres but it came up 14.5 before he got to say anything.

My point is its not 15, these umps are so quick to blow play on not 15 that when it actually happens and it gives a team a shot on goal they let it go instead of making a tough call because they dont want to upset the crowd.

Is this the same measuring tool they use for the longest kick on Grand Final day? That thing is out by like 25 mtrs.

Stop being disingenuous. The umpire f’ed up and one straight kick cost us the game.

Just to clarify my point a bit. When Valstuin (or Houli) fu**s up and kicks it straight to the oppo for a goal, that's losing fair and square. When Jack (or anyone) can't kick a regulation goal, that's losing fair and square.

When some useless maggot fu**s up because he's afraid of the crowd booing him, that's not losing fair and square.

I have umpired junior footy and know that when I fu** up it's usually because I get caught on the wrong side of the contest and can't see the free kick that I should have awarded even though the players might go ape (usually throwing the ball or high tackle). But I can always tell when a kick is 10 m or 15 m because i'm not a ******* gimp.
So you're suggesting the only reason we lost was because the umpire paid a 14-15m kick a mark and not the fact that we had multiple players miss easy shots on goal, miss simple targets when we were 3-4 goals up, we had players give away a stupid intentional out of bounds free/50m penalty when we were trying to hold on, yet I'm the one being disingenuous.

Oh and FWIW, I've also umpired senior and junior footy

was on AFL 360 tonight they said it was 14.5 metres... Robbo's exact words were "that's near enough, we can't expect umpires to pin point it exactly". I can see that reasoning especially on the fly but forgive me for being cynical ... the rule doest it not say a legal disposal has to be 15 metres does it not? It doesn't say or near enough .... the kick wasn't 15 and shouldn't have been paid. That's the rule.

What a biased competition we are invested in. near enough depending on who we want to win at the time.
So I expect you will be calling play on when we get paid a near enough mark moving forward. Fact is there are plenty of times in games when both teams get the benefit of near enough calls. As I've said above that kick/mark was not the reason we lost, we lost because we let the Eagles kick 3 goals prior to that without doing anything to stop their momentum.

Nope.

After the Zac Bailey non htb against Geelong, the media were up and about, and the AFL claimed it was the wrong decision.

In the Jeremy Cameron not 15m mark call, the media were up and about and the media admitted it was the wrong call.

Josh Kennedy takes a mark from a kick that travelled less than 15, wins them the game and NO media have reported it and you sure as hell know that they won't admit it was a mistake.
No shock there

The entire 4th quarter was very badly umpired.

Tigers were shafted.

And really when's the last time we have seen the crowd go mental over an umpire's tough call!?!?

May as well do away with the video on goal line decisions then. If you need to check a replay frame by frame to see if a finger tip touched the ball or it just shaved the post then it was near enough to be a goal.

As much as we want to blame the umpires, Broad (who has been massive this season and was one of our best again on Sunday) didn't read the flight of the ball very well which allowed Ryan to swoop.
That was a mistake right there. He needed to be behind the player, not in front.

Quick, someone get this man the figures!!!!!

In all seriousness though, someone like RoCo, an impartial journalist within in the football media, highlighting this inconsistency will actually do a hell of a lot more than us simply bemoaning it on BigFooty. I really hope he does looks into it and raises some of the telling statistics we are all aware of on here.

He also dropped a mark near the goal line and instead of rushing it through, kicked it away which Waterman marked and goaled. There were a lot of errors by our boys throughout the game that assisted west coast in stealing that game. Umps did get a bit home ground biased in the last, but they didn’t get west coast the win.

Hm pretty tough on broady he did a real job on Ryan who I really rate held him to 7p , prob 2 effective , that one and a goal . As matthews once said when you W by < 1G you generally need a bit of luck , they got a few favourable calls we squandered some Chances , that was it in a nutshell , we did a lot right just for not for long enough,

Lol they flipping helped , what if I said they umpired to the rules of the game instead

Robbo also used it to measure the length of his tackle. It measured 6ft long and he never questioned its accuracy. It was discovered later it got feet and cms mixed up

Robbo not the best with numbers. Routinely misjudges the number of drinks, thinks he's only had 1 when in fact he's consumed 5.

Might want to go to specsavers
Might want to change the rose coloured lenses in your glasses.

We played poorly in the last quarter, unforced turnovers see Broad blindly hacking it out of the goal square, easy targets missed see Vlastuin to Pickett, stupid 50m penalty by & deliberate out of bounds by Baker, Edwards passing off when he should have taken his 30 seconds and had a shot. All that gave the Eagles the momentum to run down a 4 goal lead.

Blaming the umpiring is the easy way out.

Completely disagree. Umpiring cost us that match. Each team made mistakes under pressure, each team did some amazing things. One team got the rub of the free green 25-15 ... that team won. That is blaming the umpires and rightfully so.

The general theme from most, me included, is that our loss was a combination of our mistakes, their accuracy AND some home ground umpiring.
It is certainly one that got away.
