Anyone know the free kick stat for the last quarters where we have been in front and lost ? Seems to be when we really get screwed.

That free kick differential is crazy - although it will be explained away by statements that the Tigers play hard, on the edge tough footy that tends to concede more free kicks to the opposition.
I can actually cop that.
But I don't understand why we miraculously receive less free kicks at the same time.
Do other teams suddenly play a much less combative and 'fairer' style when they come up against us?
We sit stone motherless last for 'Free's For' = 326 YTD or 17.15 per game![]()

The last quarter when the game is on the line is when the umpires go dry on us like a camel’s armpit.Anyone know the free kick stat for the last quarters where we have been in front and lost ? Seems to be when we really get screwed.

Watching the Boomers killing it in the basketball, it crossed my mind that it was surprising Shocking didn't bring a 'shot clock' into the game if his supposed aim was to increase scoring.
Then of course, reality set it in and I realised how little that rule would suit Geelol's brand of football.![]()
Shocking would not have watched that game against Argentina last night - would have been too physical for him! Didn't the refs put the whistle away for some of that 50/50 aggressive D?!

Made me wonder if the Olympic umpiring fraternity is similar to the AFL - the word went out to just let stuff go after that disgraceful call in the Opals match by a ref nowhere near the contest.
Shocking was busy that night, he was over at O'Gormless' place where they regularly catch up, painting diagonal yellow stripes on the back of flies then getting all hot and bothered together pulling the wings off them.

As horrendous as the umpiring has been this year, the gong for the worst decision of the sporting year must go to the referee who disallowed Kerr’s goal against Sweden… disgraceful!
yes indeedy...it's called ballzup played by afl maggotts!Sorry, is there a ball sport other than AFL??
Then in the same game norf player is instructed to hand ball back straight away after giving away a free kick and holds it for a minute...no fifty.150m free kick against bolton. What a shock
150m free kick against bolton. What a shock
The frees we don't get.
Players often have issues with this call (and others for that matter), but given at FIBA run contests, if they argue, then get a Tech foul, it costs their team AND the tech goes against their personal foul tally of which they only have 5.... Way too big a risk to argue the point when there is no benefit to doing so.After watching plenty of sports during the Olympics, I realise how very few other sports have rules as open to interpretation as AFL.
Soccer, hockey, rugby all have some offside rules, but simple enough.
Soccer also has the deciding whether player is taking a dive or its legit.
Personally I can never tell who is doing the charging in basketball but players rarely have issues with the call.
The interpretation of rules in AFL, which often favours one team is one of the things that makes the game hard to watch.
But it's the way they play
If you called it by what it actually was, it would make a good episode of Law & Order : SVU
