Remember when Rance dived?
The whole footy World was up in arms about it but when other teams have been doing it for years, mothballs.
That’s what happens when u let stuffwits run the gameHawkins did an outrageous dive today and got rewarded for it and then got a 50 because the Hawks players raised their arms towards the umpire. Media completely overlooked the dive and focused on the umpire abuse rule.
Good to see the Scott brothers in kahoots, Chris already saying the rules are clear.

I've just seen the Tom Hawkins dive and 50.
Tom deserves a suspension for that one. Disgraceful.
The umpires that payed the free and the 50 should get a week off as well.
Wonder how many of these resulted in goals50m PENALTIES CONCEDED AFTER ROUND 5
Tigers 17Cats, Hawks, Power, Saints 8Crows, Magpies, Demons, Roos, Eagles 7Lions, Dockers, Bulldogs 6Swans 5Blues, Bombers, Giants 4Suns 3
Finally some people are seeing itWhen betting sites are the major sponsor and AFL CEOs leave to get a job in gambling. Then is it any wonder umpiring cannot be criticised. Don't fool yourself, when easy money is there to be made corruption will run rife.
Should be a fine, but if we are being serious we should also be looking at Nank playing for a free when Tex made contact and he went to groundI've just seen the Tom Hawkins dive and 50.

We do give away a lot of frees and that’s def a focus required, Nank for example is so sloppy. What provokes my ire is the ones that we arent rewarded, clear HTB for a start , umpires are kidding themselves with their interpretations and the excuses are pathetic , you only have to look at the, being sucked into porkins staging to qty we re talking aboutThe reality is we are either being reamed by the umpiring - or the coaching is shithouse. Any team that constantly gives away 30-80% more free's than their opponent must be ill coached.
If i were the coach of a team that i believed was playing the game poorly when considering the rules, I would be going off my nuts at 1qr time etc at the players. There is no worse way to lose a game of sport than by ignoring the rules of the game. I would be calling out the playing group after the game saying things like "..... it wont matter how much work all us coaches put in during the week to come up with game plans to stop Tex or figure out a way to nullify a player like Pettracca - if we just keep going out there and giving away 25-35 free kicks a game and playing clumsy ill disciplined footy, its always going to be futile. Our team need to be better than this, no one wants to come watch their team give the opponent cheap possession and meterage based on free kicks and 50's".
Has Dimma ever really done that? Giving away a lot of free kicks is generally something you expect from young inexperienced teams - yet, we are just about the oldest. Can you remember a time when the most experiened team in the league forgot the rules of the game like we apparently have?
If not, why? Is Dimma just that shit of coach? Or does he just accept the players can't do much against a deliberate attempt to sabotage our system?
We are 5 games in and we have had 1 game of 33-13 free's and another where we gave up 8x50's - those 2 games in isolation are perhaps the worst stats i have seen in both those columns in the history of watching the sport. we would have to be the worst discipline team in the history of the AFL at this point.
The odd question is, if so - then why is it such a non story across the board? its just....accepted
Hard to argue with thatBiggest problem atm is that the majority of umpires are dweebie little guys that seem to crave power over the players and also thrive on crowd approval, look at the GWS game, our only one sided home crowd and we get the run of the green.

I'm amazed that you seem to think Dimma would be ignoring the umpiring issue (my paraphrase of your overall post). It's the elephant in the room. So how do you eat an elephant - one mouthful at a time. My point being, we had invested in a playing system high on chaos, read .... collision and turnover. My read of the game is he is slowly winding that back to something more manageable - but we are not there yet. I'll bet it will take much of the season. The reality is we are either being reamed by the umpiring - or the coaching is shithouse. Any team that constantly gives away 30-80% more free's than their opponent must be ill coached.

Great analysis MR thank you. I challenge you to look a bit deeper and see how many were missed and add that to the numbers it could look even worse ! Watching the game I felt they were being marched up the field on occasions and we on occasions had the wind taken out of our sails when a free could have gone our way. I know it doesnt happen but anyone watching that would have thought there was a fix on.From the Crows game…..
Most of us would have heard by now the free kick count ran 15-1 in the Crows favour from the point we hit the front in Q3.
From my best calculations - I was watching the free kick count the whole way - Richmond had 3 distinct periods of scoring supremacy.
Early first term Richmond 2 goals v Crows nil.
Late final term Richmond 2 goals v Crows nil - umps appeared to swallow thier whistles in this period.
Q3 6 mins to 14 mins Richmond 4 goals v Crows nil.
The best I can make out, these periods combined saw a free kick count around 7-2 in our favour.
The Crows had 2 distinct longer periods of scoring dominance.
Q1 12 mins to Q3 2 mins. Crows 10 goals v Richmond 4 goals. This period and the few minutes surrounding it was accompanied by a free kick count roughly 16-5 the Crows way.
Q3 16 mins to Q4 17 mins. This was where the vast bulk 15-1 disparity occurred.
So their 2 periods of scoring dominance where combined they outscored us 15 goals to 4, was accompanied by a free kick count roughly 31-6 in their favour. This does not include at least 2 incorrect marks paid to them I can recall.
It is pretty tough to watch that without moaning, for me at least.
