I think there was a directive against our tactics around 2020… now it is subconsciously baked into officiating which is much harder to remedy (unless of course we make some sort of public outcry)

The stand rule is a perfect example of rule which is open to manipulation. How long it tales to call play on can be varied.

The protected area rules can be varied just as easily, with 50m penalties dished out or not as necessary.

There have always been grey areas, such as what constitutes a mark and what doesn't.

But the rule changes of recent years have taken it to another level.

I'm not prepared to accept it is a coincidence. It looks like a strategy, a means to an end.

What many see as institutionalised incompetence can often be something more sinister hiding behind a veil of deliberate mistakes.

Few have given thought to the effects of years of this umpiring on the players.

We have professional players who tackle but almost never see a holding the ball decision. In their favour, that is, only against them.

If I was Taranto or Hopper, I'd be wondering what on Earth waa happening. They never received this treatment regularly at GWS.

I stopped watching last night's game with the free kick count at 13 to 2. We did give away some dumb frees, as we do in every game, but the missed frees are now a joke that I can't tolerate any longer. I just cannot understand how 4 umps missed Vlastuin's dangerous tackle, and missed his handball that he was pinged for. You can tell the players have had enough - Rioli twice asked the umpires about the 50M penalty..

The AFL have shafted us for 8 years, and I'm waiting for a game where the players just walk off in protest. Far fetched, but players will want out of Tigerland and we won't be able to attract players if this keeps going on...

Just look at how well looked after Dimma's Suns are now....
