As soon as I saw #17 Schitt - I knew we were going to get r*ped.
That same prick cost us the Carlton game last year with dodgy free kicks and not giving us free kicks when he should have.
I thought Vozzo the Bozo was bad, but this w***er takes the cake.
#15 wasn't far behind him.

Slow starts and inability to go man on man quickly when required cost us games last season and this game today.
Apart from the loss though not a terrible start and we can only learn from it....hopefully.

Adelaide deserved the win.

We were crap that's why we lost.
However take out the umpires and we would have won.
End of story.

I can't read this whole thread, because the RAGE will surface again... but yes, the umpiring was abhorable. We never should have let them close enough to let the umpires cost us the game, so that was on us... but the umpires DID cost us this game.

We should have been able to get a goal at the end there when we went just outside our 50 repeatedly, but if it wasn't for the umpiring we would have been in front at that point anyway.

It was on the line and there was no way the boundary umpire could tell from 5 meters behind thomas. It was a line call that should be called play on when there is that much doubt

2 dale goals disallowed(one with a throw in and another with the mark paid a free, going for a high mark does not mean push in the back ******** umpire)
at least 5 goals to the crows coming from tiggy touch wood frees
A push in the back against maxwell when he pushed the srows players chest? seriously wtf umpire? chest is not the back
Medhurst push in the back because he leapt for a mark with his foot out, seeing as he touched the ball that doesnt make sense to be a free

The free kick count doesn't mean much to me. You can have a 15-15 game and still have a poorly umpired match that has gone against one team. I'm a bit sick of the obligatory qualifier "we should have taken our chances" before launching into a critique of umpiring.

If poor umpiring cost us why can't we scrutinise it? It's part of the game. I still scrutinise it when we win, just with not as much passion or vigour. I'm just so frustrated, sure we could have done more to win and just to beat the influx of people flaming me yes let's not take anything away from Adelaide, but I believe we did just enough to take the points but when we were 3 goals up poor umpiring put Adelaide back in it, and when we had two shots at goal from Thomas to get us back into they were taken away from us incorrectly (well at least the mark was blatant). Why should we have to overcome poor umpiring? Why should we accept it? Just because it's a cliché to whinge about it and you don't want to look like a tool?

Im with jabso, we played poorly at times but we still had all the momentum and the game until the umpires stepped in

Yes adelaide kept coming, but without some umpire incomptence at very very important times we would of won the game
 
i'll be as unbiased as humanly possible.......honestly, umpires are always shit. but today they were worse than usual and it wasn't balanced out like it usually is i mean in terms of locations moreso than numbeers wise. what i'd love is to get adelaid supporters to watch the game and youtube the parts where they think they were hard done by and for the collingwood supporters to do the same and then post them here. it wont change the result and the diehard fans won't chnge their minds but theres a chance for unbiased comments from other teams supporters. i already know that if you watch the hilights of the game you will see a few of the goals that were a direct result of questionable free kicks so thats a good place to start for the collingwood boys. by the way, disposal wise other than for goal adelaid should have won and to blame the umpires completely is wrong and we'll just never know but they definatelly didn't help and robbed us all of a great game of football :mad:.

On TV replays, the ball was clearly out. The umpire got it right.

Gotta laugh at those who think we aren't hard done by.

Since a ball has been bounced in season 2009, we are already -50 in free kicks.

That is the pies have recieved 50 less free kicks than their opponents.

Thats on average 10 less per game.

There comes a time in close matches that a free kick here a missed 50 there will become the difference between winning and losing.

Yes I agree there are moments the players could've won it for themselves, which I fully take on. I dont say the umpires were the only reason we lost, but they were prob 10% of the reason, and when a game is decided by under a goal they will nearly always affect the result.

The problem about it all is that they love it!
 
I can say you guys got totally robbed.

Having watched both the Crows/Pies game and the Saints/Swans game later on I will tell you this.

The level of umpiring set by Rosebury and Razor Ray in the later game was about 400% better.

I haven't read everything but seriously, you can't blame that on the umps. i saw some very bad calls on both sides, mainly on collingwood but that coud be the bias talking. if we are to be a premiership team we need to play with more intensity amd more heart, not that a few didn't. Props to Jack for trying and bad luck to Trav for giving away that 50 that was ridiculous.... you know what i mean bock. on a better note, man cox has a good side step, harry o was useless running it out of defence, cox stood stong.
 
Hmm, Pies are following up on it. Mixed feelings on this one. Part of me just wants it to go away because I know this is going to have a backlash for Collingwood, with opposing supporters calling us poor losers etc... but on the other hand being that I was at the game and subject to watching that terrible, terrible umpiring, I can't blame them for feeling the need to follow it up and make it known that we're not impressed.

I know what you mean but basically it wont make much difference. umpires will still have their own view and if its the shit one then thats bad luck to us. the bottom line is that if we are to be a premiership team we need to win these matches regardless of the umpires. Props to adelaide petrnko looks like he's a player. Seriosly thought BJ is uselss, unless he's kicking 50 meters for goal on his left he's gone.

I'm not a bitter man, but god, that umpiring was terrible. Fair enough we played terrible, and to only lose by 4 points playing shite is saying something. I think there were a couple of very wrong decisions that inevitably cost us because of the way we played.
 
At first I thought part of it was me just being a collingwood supporter but for the club too follow up on it it had to be bad.
 
I thought the NAB cup thing was an aberration but obviously not, it's now officially a pattern. The ones that hurt were;

- Bock free and 50m = goal
- Leon Davis tackle on Edwards = goal
- Thomas mark = lost goal
- Goodwin mark over boudary = lost shot on goal
- Thomas boundary line run = lost goal

a hell of a lot more if I was thinking rationally again

I was right on the MCC wing and it was obvious that it was smothered, can't believe the ump didn't see it.

While on the topic of umpiring, Matt (?) Stevic, the AFL umpire and sub techer at my school said on Friday that he "didn't even like football, it is just a job". I was shocked that he said this but it probably explains why they are so hopeless.
 
Next week the umpiring will be ok and then it will be the same bullshit from then on

Once again, the Umpires werent the reason that Adelaide had 10 scoring shots to 2 in the first quarter. From then on, we always had an uphill struggle, because every effort from then on was to catch up. Even from 3 goals up in the 3rd, we could have been further in front if we had performed better in the 1st.

The reason we lost wasnt because of the umpires. They may not have helped with poor decisions, but poor decisions are part and parcel of this game. They are a known factor that both sides have to contend with going into every game.

The reasons we lost are because we didnt make sure that we would win the game. We didnt play well enough to negate all other factors that would make the game a borderline contest. Destiny is always in your own hands and if you play well enough you can control it.

Does anyone who saw the game believe we couldn't have played better?

By my estimation it should have been a 4 to 5 goal game in our favour, along similar lines to last years results. Many are saying we have improved from last year, so why werent we 4 to 5 goals clear at the end, or even more given those opinions?
