i NEVER get on the back of umpires...hard job and all that...but last night was bloody terrible. missed waited goal...and then the bunch of 75 metre penalties they received. ridiculous. they got 3-5 goals directly from bad decisions.

minus the two we got back from the one that 'hit the post' and the one where the ump sheparded us into the ball.

bad all around display for the umps.

It's not just the these games get the worst of the umpires, but rather they ALWAYS seem biased against us. Tonight was the worst example of it by far though.

The Hille headbutt to Hampson who instinctively defended himself.
The Waite goal that was a 12 point turnaround at a crucial stage of the game.
The free kick against Bower when it was more of a handpass than dozens of others on the night PLUS a ridiculous 50 metre penalty to seal the goal.
There were more that had me screaming at the screen, but they were the worst ones.

It's just so frustrating when umpires have such a significant impact on the game.
 
How about when we were about to take a kickout and they gave a free kick in the goal square for apparent high contact off the ball by Joseph. When I saw the replay once I got home I couldn't believe that they would actually pay a free for something as soft as him bumping the essendon player and his arm slightly slipping up the guys shoulder. At the game I couldn't work out what happened and just assumed that we must have had an interchange infringement but no they actually paid an off the ball free.
 
Bummer suppoter behind me in the AFL mems had the audacity to complain about the umpiring on the night!!!!!!!

They are either corrupt or incompetent. I am sick of the umpires gifting goals to Essendon whenever we play them.:mad:

Ended up poor for both? Yeh right, more a case of once they realised essendon still weren't good enough to beat us despite giving them the charity basket they gave up giving them free-kicks. Just want to insult essendon too, we flogged them and they were given every chance to win, shows how good they are....

I agree we get shafted by umps against Essendon, but please dont tell me it evened out.

That should have been a 100 point win to us:

Hilles headbutt of a forearm;

Bowers handball;

Waites goal that wasn't paid cost us 2 goals and gave them momentum......

There were other ticky touchwood jobs they also got AJ forearm to the arm of another player free kick, they got everything.

They should be dropped those umps, no doubt about it.

To top it off as well, i reckon bruce macahommo is a bummers supporter, all he spoke about was essendon all night the little prick,,,

Yeah I agree, the umps were disgraceful. What peeves me off is that when we play Essendon, we always get the raw end of the stick.

What about the free to Monfries directly in front in the first when he practically dived from minimal contact. That was a disgrace!!!

Then he got one later for a push in the back from a tackle. I tell you the man is untouchable. He reminds me of Berwick and Mecuri and how they always got the softest free kicks.

Besides the SOFT free kick goals the umpires gave to Essendon, how bad were the ones in general play. Seemed like there were rules for one team and not the other.

I dont mind if an umpire pays a free kick for something...just as long as they pay the same free kick for the same thing all game (which they never do). There is no consistency. That is why our great game will never go global.

What a great win though!!!!!! We stuck it up Essendon, and the Umpires!!! Doubly satisfying
 
I thought the umpires did an excellent job. :rolleyes: They were the only thing that kept Essendon in the contest for 3 quarters despite a definite Essendon goal which the goal umpire somehow missed.

Playing against 25 men we still doubled their score. If the Blues have been struggling for form for 2 months, what happened, Bombers? :o
 
Were these the same ****heads that umpired the round 13 game last year? They certainly looked all too familiar.

I don't see how two bad decisions nulify each others out.However, I know where you are coming from.

I don't know why everyone is complaing about the umpiring, they were very consistant which is all we ask.

Consistantly bad. You looked at the player the wrong way , a free was played. What has this game become? basketball? Unbeleivably badly umpired.
Why do the umpires wan't to stamp out everything that this game stands for. They destroyed the game. How many goals did the umpires cost us or essendon due to shocking decisions?
When the umpires get noticed and have so much say in a game then they have not done their job correctly.
Every week it seems the umpires pick a game to make a point and they take it way too far. Then they back off for the other games. It's a joke.

I would get them to watch 10 games , where the game was umpired in th e spirit of the game and it was a genuine spectacle due to them not being noticed and direct them to do the same.

That was a wooden spoon performance by the umpires. "booo , hiss hiss!!!

They were pretty bad last night. Probably cost us around 4-5 goals. But they were even worse in that North game - that set the benchmark for biased, incompetent umpiring.

Totally agree with this. All through the first 3 quarters I was amazed at how our goals were coming through good play and excellent determination only to be undone by them getting soft gimme free kicks or fifty metre penalties to keep them in the game.

I could be wrong, but I don't remember us getting one goal from a crap free or fifty metre penalty!
 
all this BS soft free kick off the ball stuff has come about because of hall and the thompson headlock, the umps copped it for not stepping in. But as usual they take it too far. Sick and tired of the amateur umps now. It is time they went pro and geaschen needs to go

It's pretty simple IMO, if the obvious free is there play a free otherwise leave it alone.
 
Lloydy was on SEN this morning whinging about the umpire blocking Zahahahahahahaharakis and the Fat Neagle goal. Seriously baffles me as to how any Essendon supporter can whinge about the umpiring last night.
 
Loved this guy on SEN last night, who was supposed to ask a question
just gave it to Llyoyd and was like "funny how u guys had the umpires on your side and still cant put up a fight" and then proceed to say that Lyoldy
"always hated carlton and was a bias during the commentary"


Next week, i would be advising all players to put their head down and then start running around to try and get contact with as many players as possible as im sure from last nights precedent we can get a few goals from that :)
