Here's one for you all;
If space is infinite...which also means there is an infinite amount of stars, planets etc. When we look up at the night sky, why do we see black or empty space? Should we not just see an all lit up sky...?

1) The universe is not infinite.
2) The Universe is infinite, but the amount of stars are not.
3) The light from distant stars has not had time to reach us.
4) The red shift makes them invisible to our eyes.
What is this choose my own adventure? I wanted an answer....a single answer

Really short and basic explanation.
Space and the universe is expanding (whether infinitely or not) in the same way a muffin would expand and the stars, and galaxies are all moving away from each other in much the same way choc chips would in said muffin.
Many of the stars and galaxies which you rightly assume would fill the night sky with light were they all the same distance away than the furthest star we can see with the naked eye are in fact too far away to see. Others are so far away that the light has not had time to reach us yet. We only see in a very limited range of the full spectrum.
A full spectrum image of the night sky would look exactly as you imagine it should, almost totally lit.
Galaxies and stars did not just all pop out of the big bang ready formed they were formed from gaseous Hyrogen clouds which eventually clumped together and after time these clumps attracted more and more gas through their increasing gravity until the mass of the gas bearing on the core was high enough to trigger fusion at which point they begin to "shine".
These high temperature reactions in first generation stars created first Helium and then various more complex gases. The vast majority of other elements and compounds were created in the death throws of these first gen stars.
The space between the galaxies is also expanding.
In an infinite universe, everything happens infinite times.
Does that mean nobody is unique? Does that mean there are infinite versions of every person scattered around the universe for infinity?

Why is it that car manufacturers manufacture cars that can go up to the speed of 200 km/h+ when you can't go faster than what is indicated on the speed limit?
