Judd you are kidding yourself if you think the WRFL is a better comp than the EDFL. DS won the flag, so why do you think that you would beat them easily but you "maybe" might beat Keilor? I thought you went to the game?

4 EDFL boys made VM 16's, how many from WRFL?

There are 24 Clubs in the EDFL, some clubs with upto 15 junior sides, its just a pure weight of numbers thing.

WRFL is by far a better league.
And when i said mayb keilor, i was reffering to the inter league club matchs
Greenvale, DS, Keilor
Werribee, Williamstown, Hoppers Crossing
Not sure how many from the wrfl made the VM 16's. But 7 made the VM 15's.

Yet clubs with such numbers, they still cant produce a decent A team

I think maybe 1 (if Fitzpatrick is wrfl) but you must realise VM 15 is totally different to VM 16. Out of last years VM 15 only maybe 7 made this years VM 16. Half of last year VM 15 did not even get invited to VM 16 trials and could not even make Cannons u/16 list.

To answer your earlier question, this years u/16 cannons initial squad consisted of approx 50% EDFL, 46% Sunbury/Rupertwood?Macedon/Gisborne, 2% Wallen/Kilmore 2% WRFL (St.Bernards). Out of the final 30 were 50% EDFL.

At u/15 Cannons level, 200 kids were looked at this year at various squad trials and school holiday clinics. Only 1/4 will be selected for Barry Davis Team.

IMO the strongest district would be either Eastern 8 VM u/16 players or Northern (DVFL) 8 VM u/16 players. EDFL only had 4 VM and Northern kicked their butts at the trials. Sorry but IMO the WRFL would not stand a chance against them.

I liked your idea of DS v Werribbee of Greenvale V Willie as I said these top clubs (incl Keilor) don't get many hard games.

I don't agree with your views on Lucin. The GF wasn't one of his better games but he was the turning point in the match. You must remember that a kid like Lucin has played over 50 games this year (DS, Vic Metro, Herald-sun, TAC, U/16 Cannon and School footy). I also noticed he was named in Cannons yesterday and is also playing DS u/18 - so give the kid a break. He must be worn out physically and mentally.

Two quick questions.
Not to sound sarcastic

Did any of the EDFL boys get an AIS/AFL academy programme?

And has Lucin played any games for the Calder Cannons u18s?

kielor are lookin the favourites to take it out this year..
but they are closely followed by a couple of teams (greenvale, strathmore, douttas and craigiburn)
who are all genuine chances.

the game of the year i think will be kielor vs douttas in a couple weeks.

kielor are currently undefeated and beat every team comfrtably, however douttas have bin running hot in the past weeks, after a slow start to the season.

they have premiership players from last years under 16 win (mckay[excellent ruckmen], clemente[blue collar centre half back], mcnamara[classy half back], lay[highly skilled centre half forward] and leech [small nimble on baller])
plus several new recruits (linardin [tall on baller] from east kielor and cronin [tough on baller] from tullamarine) and also the co-captain of the un. 15 edfl side kazuro[half back i think!].
i reccomend you get down and watch that game, it will be an epic and arguably the preveiw of what is to come in this years grand final.

How bad that the guy gives a bump and no one came in to even up!
Liked how he was waiting for someone to have a go and it didnt happen.

Did anyone give him payback later?
At my club it woulda happened

I cant remember his name but the guy who did the belting is a no nonsense kid (bit strange keilor having a hard guy).

A bit of aggro happened during this game but nothing i would consider a "payback"

I assume you are Port Melb Colts?

Strathmore might be favs after there narrow win against Greenvale, but g'vale did have dion prestia, michael talia and a few other gun players in the side who didnt play much of the year. Strathmore have more strength that kelior but i rekon keliors skill level is much better. Will be a good game
