I agree with "sock off" after he agreed with "dal santo" after he disagreed with "max leader" after he made a statement about st bedes being flat track bullies. St Bedes made a push to play premier league at the start of the year(january) and got turned down, they can only smash whoever dares to show up to play them.... The people that continually under-estimate St Bedes always seem to be the ones walking around with egg on there face. how about last season?

Can anyone confirm...

(1) St.Bedes has lodged an application with VAFA to be promoted to U/19 Premier

(2) Old Ivanhoe have has lodged an application with VAFA to be promoted to U/19 (2)

.... just rumour heard going round, any truth to the matter?

As in the past, any changes must be done before round 5 and no later than start of round 6. 2.5 weeks to go to see if it comes to fruitition

And who has lodged an application to be demoted from premier
to Division 2 ?
Must be someone in the premier division who would like to win a
few games .

Word from the VAFA is that there will be no changes to premier / division 2
, so St Bedes will have no competition this year apart from Beaumaris maybe ?

not even beaumaris will be good enough to beat st bedes... they are one hellof a unit

VAFA are stupid about this... U/19 (2) might aswell be finished now... St. Bedes will NOT lose a game... beauy will not even come close... i feel sorry for all the other teams playing a pointless season of football... the tigers line-up this year is as close to being perfect as the word perfect itself!

Its a pity too. If St Bedes continues on as it as at the moment, and it seems they will unless some kind of flesh eating bug is let loose in the change rooms at brindisi, then other teams are going to be playing to be runners up in divvy 2 this year.

you can see why the VAFA wouldnt put them up, but i think the reasons for promoting them far outweigh leaving the wreck havoc on the hapless divvy 2 opponents.

whats everyones tips for the weekend?
I got the Tigers obviosuly to devastate the friars by about 25 goals
Despite their big loss last week, melburnians to get over parade by 20 points
Banyule in a tight one against collegians
Beauy to get over the line comfortably against caulfield by 5 goals
and in the game of the round Brighton to be Old camberwell

I reckon
Beaumaris to beat Caulfield easily by 10 goals
St bedes to beat Whitefriars by only 7 goals as they wont be trying.
Old Brighton to beat old camberwell easily by 10 goals
Old Parade in a draw against old melburnians. They don't know how to win.
Collegians to beat Banyule by 1 goal. only due to collegians having a win
under their belt. even though it was against whitefriars.

Congratulations to those who were successful n round 4.
I was just wondering, surely, the Vafa would have to go back and reconsider their decision to keep St Bedes mentone in division 2. After a 275 point win, there must be reconsiderations...u must think. There is just no competition in that division, in saying that is there any comp in the premier division???
something must be done, before division "st bedes " becomes a walk over

Dont be ignorant to suggest they would do this in Premier against the big '3' sides . . .

Yes, its frustrating for all concerned. No question. But how were they the VAFA to know that sides would be very very weak. I observe four sides have gone markedly back since 2006 - Old Melbourne, Old Parade, the Friars and Camberwell. Beauy obviously are better and then the two down from Section 1 2006 are nothing flash.

I was astounded Blacks got into Premier Division but the deal was brokered at club level and was a bit ridiculous. My only hope has been that Blacks really struggle this season in Unders. Not much else interested in an obvious Tigers flag !

Spencer, as a former Under 19 Blue coach of a catholic clubs 2nd under 19 side, as well as another inner suburbs club, surely you should be careful what you post in regards to these 2 clubs?

brian speaking, not sure why you are offended. What Spencer wrote made sense to me ! Even though he may not know all the facts.

Nothing like it has been done at this level of footy. Its been done in the junior leagues. It was discussed by the VAFA but the decission was to leave everything as is from my reports. That was before St Bedes won by 275 points. Hopefully they take stock and rethink the decision.

it would be common sense for st bedes to go up if the rules allow it... do the rules allow it tho?

Yes I agree. Common sense should prevail, regardless of the rules. there are 2 or 3 clubs getting thrashed in premier division. StBedes beat a side yesterday by 44 goals. This is ridiculous. Give them a challenge.

This is the under 19's , not senior amateur football. The same rules should
not apply as the seniors.

St Bedes should be able to compete at a higher level this year. Not next year. This year they are Premier Division standard.

haha say that in Premier thread...they will love it.

Perhaps Whitfriars would have been beaten by Old Xavs by 60 goals. St Bedes are where they are and they will stay there, end of story so get over it.

perhaps Brian, but you dont know. I do believe these ponderings are more than welcome in this thread.

St Bedes could compete at premier level. I dont think anyone can deny that and i dont know why everyone is trying to. you cant argue with their performances. They are obviously above divvy 2 footy and the next step up from that is premier, so why not beg the hypothetical of how they would perform? Surely it would of better quality than the bottom 3 Premier teams, whos points scored for the season combined are signifigantly less than St Bedes. Those 3 teams collectively scoring 553 to ST Bedes' 712.

Its a question that will continued to be asked as long as ST Bedes remain in divvy 2. How would they rate against the Premier sides? Personally i think they could take the flag back to Brindisi in Premier. But thats just me.

Johny Blaze, Very well said. I also think St Bedes would Take the Premier Division Flag. It will be The Last year for allot of that Side, i believe they should have the opportunity to have a crack at the highest Level VAFA has to offer if they are good enough..

Just off the topic, quite far fetched i must admit, is St Bedes Good enough to Challenge The Under 19s VAFA Victorian Side...i for one,un-biasedly believe so....i also think there is a flaw in the selection of this squad.

St Bedes are probably the best under age side in the league at the moment. Any team which has only 60pts scored against it in 4 matches is a tremendous effort.

The VAFA should perhaps looks to introduce some sort of ranking system for the 19s. Teams fluctuant each season given the nature of under age footy, so not necessarily are the best teams always in Premier.
