Starting to look like a very even competition around these parts.

Whats everyones thoughts so far?
Ajax and mazenod are the teams to beat for my mind. I think this round is going to start giving us a good indication as to how this season may start to pan out.

Interesting game between haileybury and st bedes this weekend. both teams coming off maiden wins and looking to start cementing themselves in the top 4. It will be a tight one, im not even willing to call a winner.

prahran-caulfield and parkdale will battle it out this weekend. I think these two may be fighting to stay off the bottom of the ladder. ill take the vultures by 25.

mazenod at home will take down the ashers comfortably.

and after their trek, the boys from Mt eliza will fall to Ajax.

any one elses thoughts?
Just like Ajax were going to thump monash too? should be a great match down at central reserve, expect a close contest!

Some interesting results imerging.
prahan-caulfield by only 2 points against the vultures!! It would be good not underestimate the boys i think.
3 points seperated haileybury and bedes. looks inaccurate kicking cost the tigers on this occasion. I honestly believe we are yet to see the best from the tigers yet.
any one heard results from ajax/peninsula?

This league interests the hell out of me. It seems to be a very very even comp.
This weeks matchs may start to settle the ladder a bit.
Bedes will need to work very hard away against Ajax. I think they can do it and will take the section 3 relgators down by 15 points.
Hampton will take down Parky at the Vultures nest, 35 points should do it with Kyle pinto to kick 3 in b.o.g performance.
Mazenod and haileybury is another inriguing battle. Ill take mazenod after haileybury looked like they should of lost last week.
FInally the boys form Mt Eliza take on the fledgling Prahan Caulfield. Ill take peninsula but the PC boys are starting to impress me.
Good Luck!:thumbsu:

Geeze you are a positive bloke. Bagging 17 year olds, first St. Leo's, now Prahran Caulfield. The fact of the matter is these kids are having a go. I know at our club, we got behind these kids last year, hoping that they'll become good clubmen in the future. I'm sure Prahran / Caulfield are hoping for the same, and eventually, when they develop, and when they are old enough to judge them, there might be a couple of good players there.

St Leo's, last year - who you seemed to get off on bagging, had predominantly 17 year olds, most playing their first year of footy. The stuck together, and ended up winning two games at the end of the year. They continued their improvement with a competitive game against Old Xavs on the weekend.

All I'll say, is I'm glad you're not in charge of our U/19's, and I'm sure Prahran / Caulfield are the same.

Beautifully said. Talking to some of the Hampton boys today, I know that their team now is "at least 50%+ 19". And me playing with Prahran-Caulfield, can guarentee that there are probably 5 of our players who are 18. This team was a 2 year plan, this is the first year we've come together as a playing group, by the end of next year, not guareenting it obviously because I cant look into a crystal ball, can say that we'll be a force. With 2 wins discounting pre-season, we aint doing as bad as what was expected. The problem is the intimidation factor at the moment, with most of the clans towering all over us.
Hampton getting over us quite easily today was fairly annoying. Kicking there way to 8 goals to our 0 at quarter time killed us in the end. (ended up losing by 8 goals).
But we'll stick at it, try our best, and see what we can do.

i would be shattered if i was in one of the teams that are losing to the SECOND team for st bedes mentone... having your best team on the field and still losing to them must make you want to quit footbal...or move to mentone

I give the P-C boys alot of credit.
First season ever at a brand new club and they have posted 2 wins on the board. Its not to be shrugged at.
They will continue to grow and from what i've seen, they do look a young side.
There is a long way to go this season, who knows what this fledgling team can amount to?

Quitting if you lost to the third placed side after 6 rounds... Glad you werent coaching me in junior footy. The beda seconds are a good side and have plenty of blokes who will be very good senior footballers in a few years, and seconds or not there average age would surely be higher than sides like P/C n Parky. If your playing 19s south section then for most blokes its probly as much about having a game with mates as winning or losing, if you would quit after losing to a seconds side then that says a lot for all the mates you must have in your team.

No one will beat mazenod with their best side in come finals time
Im going to disagree profusely here. I think that theres teams that will definatly take it Mazenod and be more than competitive. Monash Blues will be there abouts. A few topsy turvy results but they are a definite dark horse and are not to be underestimated.
Some said Ajax at the start of the season but im just not sold on them. The divvy 3 relegants just havent impressed me thus far, but again, i think they still have some of their best footy to come yet.
The two that are going to give Mazenod a real shake is St Bedes and Hampton. Both these clubs are looking strong. and dont let mazenods early defeat of hampton fool you, i think that accurate kicking on that day could of changed alot for the rovers.
As for St Bedes, that club is just so strong all over the board now, a fool would be the only one writing them off. Great support and that sandpit they call a football ground at Brindisi, as well as a few wins on the road already, the Beda boys are also strong candidates.
This is probably the most even league in the whole VAFA right now. This is not a one horse race by any stretch of the imagination.

i dun doubt the potential of otha sides but its that maz are currently playing with probably 8 of their top 10 players not in the side, but will be in come finals time.

I think I've heard that said abwout every team in the VAFA. I guess we will wait and see. Where are these 8 top players anyway?

old haileybury should go alright this weekend, have given away big leads in the past two weeks so should be very hungry. don't be surprised to see liam 'hulk' donnelly or shawn coles take out kyle pinto early. with lance baptist still firing from indigenous round one can only expect the bloods to get better from this point on. look out come finals when the teens playing seniors come into the picture coz our 1's sure wont be playing finals

id say that hampton will win comfortably, and it would be awfully couragious by the "hulk" to take out the smallest bloke on the ground. why pinto anyway?

im predicting a smashing of hampton by the bloods. why not pinto footyguru, why not? and if not pinto then who else should the hulk destroy? cant be no1, just cant be.

yeah we are all really get scared of the big haileybury blokes... we realli dun wanna play em coz they are soooo tough. look out hampton haileybury are coming

Another good round shaping up in what seems to be the only interesting comp it in the VAFA U/19s. The only division where one team isnt completly dominating the rest of the competition. 6 points seperate the top 6 teams. Good to see an even competition beiong played somewhere!
First up St Bedes taking the Mt Elizians on the sandpit at Brinidisi. Tigers are starting a good role at the moment after 2 consecutive wins. I think they'll make it 3 tomorrow by about 4 goals.
The prahan caulfield take on the Jakkas in an interesting tustle. Ajax had a week off last week but i dont think that will help them. Ill take P-C in an upset.
Game of the round, Bloods VS Rovers. Alot of trash talk being thrown around i see, but i think the rovers will take the bragging rights on the park. Strong talls, quick smalls, might just have the edge on Haileybury. Hampton by 2 goals.
Finally, the Vultures host the ashers. Parky were disapointing last week and will be hoping to bounce back, lead out of the middle by Paul Diluvio who is playing great footy despite some poor results for the side. They will be gallant, but Monash should win by a kick.
Good luck for the weekend boys

More like 10 kicks (it should have been more too!).

yeh dunno if you were at the game, but u must have heard the final scores hampton by 10 goals. and i dont know if 18 is the "hulk", but someone as big as he is should be going in a little harder and not skirting out of contests. he could be killing blokes but hes just a reciever, unlike erikson who can play hard football.
