can any body tell me if the uder19s played before the seniors at home. I have been told there was 3 games u/19 reserves and seniors played same ground.
I have only seen two games the same day reserves and seniors with under 19s playing at opposite ground at the same time as the seniors start.

I started going to VFL games in the early 80’s. In those days one reserves game each weekend was played on Sunday at the Lakeside Oval (Swans home ground pre Sydney). When that was your teams game, the Under 19s would be the curtain raiser to the senior game.
In finals, all 3 grades were played at the same venue on the same day, but obviously often involving different teams.

This is absolutely correct, in the early to mid 80s, it was the only way to see an under 19s game, if the game you attended, had the reserves play at Lake Oval on a Sunday

Yes correct but im going back to the 60s. I have only seen reserves and seniors on same day. Yes on the odd occasion you get to see u/19 before the seniors. But all of the other times the u/19 played on the opposite ground and started at 2.10 . Can any body prove me wrong. They may have had 3 games on the same ground before my time . I dont know

In 1983 the Under 19s game times changed from 14:00 to 10:30.

Because Slug Jordon was coach of Melbourne's U19s and Reserves they were given dispensation to still play at 14:00. Presumably he was straight in the car the moment the seconds finished and got to the Under 19s game whenever he could.

I'm looking for info on where Melbourne U19 home games were played, given that they obviously weren't going around in front of an empty MCG at 14:00. I think a lot were played on the Old Scotch Oval at Melbourne Park.

I think i read somewhere that way back in the 50s or 60s the under 19s were played as the curtain raiser to the seniors, but can only remember it being as the people above have described.
