Have thought for a while they should seriously produce a Underbelly AFL tv drama series.

This sport has such a unbeleivable rich history of sex, drugs, corruption, big money pay offs, football legends, affairs, violence and a play ground for many powerful people with big egos and deep pockets.

What events would make the series from your club or any others?

I've often thought that a "AFL Babylon" book would be pretty cool. Not one that covered, say, the Essendon drug saga, but rather the untold or forgotten stories of scandal and salaciousness. Even better if some surviving protagonists (*cough* Ricky Quade) could be interviewed.

For those that haven't seen it "The Club" is a ripper movie based on Aussie Rules that's a little salacious:

As for real events, I wouldn't mind seeing some c-grade Australian "actor" impersonating a completely drug addled Lance Franklin falling out of a nightclub cubicle with white powder plastered over his face and his pants around his ankles.

Just need to interview Bomber, Dank, Hird and Watson, base a movie on the true storey ..... would win an Oscar, up there with the Godfather!

Carlton brown paper bags and salary cap cheating fallout, John Elliott as the main character.

Would be one hell of a show. Big Jack taking on C7 and the AFL, trying to maintain some control over broadcasting and website rights for the clubs themselves. Elliot could see what the AFL were trying to do and was desperate to keep some power with the hands of clubs. He was bang on too, but what hubris to fight AFL house and not have your own house in order. Sunk a club and handed the AFL the keys to bring any defiant club to its knees. Was literally the birth of the AFL as we know it.

I’d love to see the salary cap saga accurately dramatised. “Honest” Ron Evans and Wayne Jackson tugging at strings taut with agenda. David Allison and other player managers raking in cash from nearly every club in the league; from the original Swans doubling of the cap, through the Dons first cheated for flag and subsequent penalties across most clubs, to the back room manoeuvres of the Blues big penalties and the sanctioned COLA rorts to help northern clubs win premierships, and a failed AFL attempt or to cheat the cap and get Franklin to GWS.

Great entertainment, and might help educate a few of those AFL supporters who don’t really know what was going on at the time.

Can’t think of anything from my club to do with the related subjects. Maybe a movie of the rise and fall of the famous Kanga Kasino.
Maybe an Underbelly TV series on the Essendon Drug Saga on how lucky all involved got only 1 year suspensions.
Had it been a lowerly placed Victorian club the AFL would have thrown the book at them.
As your club is a big name club in my mind and a lot of other supporters from other clubs you got off lightly.
The penalty your club should have got is stripped of 88 match points and to play in the negetive until you get passed the the 22 wins.
Then all players and officials involved should have given 5 years of suspension.
Then stripped of the 1st 3 rounds of the draft for 5 years with only able to trade and use the pre season draft.
Your club disgraced this sport and hopefully it doesn't happen again whether it's drugs , Salery Cap cheating or tanking.
I just hope the AFL get balls and use the above as a template for ALL clubs and not just the selective few.
The Melbourne Storm got stripped and survived cheating so your club will.
