Tonight's episode was better than usual. When the shooting happened I was thinking "A running shoot in public in daylight? Who writes this stuff?" but it seems that's actually what happened

Yep its how Jason Moran was actually killed

And who is the bearded guy with glasses that hangs with Williams, and was driving the van waiting to pick up the running man, after he murdered jason moran?

He's the name withheld for legal reasons.

They're not supposed to release the name of Alex Dimitriades' character either, which is why he's called "The Runner" on the show, even though everyone knows that = Victor Brincat.

Yes. Remaining are:

Michael Marshall
Graham "The Munster" Kinniburgh
Andrew Veniamin
Lewis Moran
Lewis Caine

Arrest of Carl Williams on 9 June 2004

I put spoiler tags so someone doesn't flip out.

I LOVE this show!

We are early nighters in this house during the week thanks to early weekday starts, but Wednesday nights are an exception.

And I do have to agree, last nights episode was a cut above the rest.

Moran witness 'has no memory of shooting'

A KEY witness to the murder of Melbourne gangland figure Lewis Moran has lost his memory of the incident and is unable to give evidence against the alleged killer.

Herbert Wrout, a close friend of Mr Moran who was his regular companion in the bar where he was killed in March 2004, had been called to give evidence in the trial of Evangelos Goussis.

But the court heard today Mr Wrout, who was also shot during the attack on Mr Moran, was suffering from post-traumatic amnesia.

Trial judge Justice Betty King told the jury it had been intended to call Mr Wrout as a prosecution witness, but medical reports showed he would not have been able to assist them.

"He is still quite unwell," Justice King said.

"He has no memory of what occurred."

Justice King duly excused him from taking part in the trial.

The jury has seen security video footage of Mr Wrout standing at the bar of the Brunswick club drinking with Mr Moran when a gunman bursts through the door.

The gunman chases Mr Moran through the club, shooting him twice as he cowers in a corner.

At the same time as Mr Moran was being shot, the killer's alleged accomplice, who was standing guard at the front door of the club, fired on Mr Wrout.

A bullet struck Mr Wrout in the arm and then passed through into his abdomen causing extensive injuries.

The court also heard that four days before Mr Moran was gunned down, staff at the Brunswick Club had to evict a man making loud and abusive threats against him.

Staff member Sally Davis described the incident as "very strange and very scary" and appeared to be unprovoked.

When told his language was unacceptable, the man told Ms Davis to "f... off".

Ms Davis said the man went on to declare he was "not scared of the Morans".

She said Mr Moran wasn't present in the bar at the time.

The man also threatened Ms Davis as he left.

"He yelled out `watch your backs'," she said.

When staff later checked security footage, they discovered the same man testing one of the club's fire exits.

Police later identified the man, but he is not allowed to be named.

The jury also heard that a man other than Mr Goussis later participated in a re-enactment of Mr Moran's murder at the request of police.

He later took them to a pier near Geelong where he claimed to have disposed of the guns used in the murder and of clothing.

Neither guns nor clothing were recovered.

He, too, cannot be named.

Mr Goussis has pleaded not guilty.

The trial before Justice Betty King continues tomorrow.

Have you seen the real Carl Williams? There's no way he could've pulled off Jason's murder by himself in the manner it was done. He hired someone else to do it, which was Victor Brincat. I believe he's been convicted of conspiracy to commit murder on the Moran case, though.
