I know all you Vics didn't get to see this show last night. But to all of you who did, what did you think about the references to the links between the Carlton Football Club and the Morans?
It's common knowledge that the Morans were big Carlton supporters, but actually watching it last night as the gangsters sat at Princes Park and watched the Blues train it kind of hit hard. I don't know about everyone else, but it wasn't a nice feeling.

^ I don't think mods wanted people posting direct links to the torrents cause of the ban.

Anyway, I'm getting it off IRC as we speak, will give it a watch tonight, looking forward to it even more now that you've mentioned the Carlton references.

lol, it's not to make me happy dude, i just dont want anyone gettin a red card over it...especially a blues supporter!

But we're a criminal club, remember? ;)

i know what ya mean bee. i was sitting there watching it with a strange feeling i'd seen those seats before. then it actually connected. carlton crew-carlton-princes park........... oh wow. it was back in 1995 so it didn't seem to affect the club any if they did meet there.

i laughed at one of the things one of them said, "it's going to be a long Season"

And thought what long winning season?:D

i enjoyed the show, will keep watching.

What made me feel sick was when they were all sitting in the stands at PP watching a Carlton training session and Jason Moran said, "Come on Craig, no glory without the hardwork". It must have been intended for Craig Bradley!

Which one of the Morans had the Carlton premierhsip flag drapped over their coffin?
The club didn't get the flag back for years later. Apparently nobody was brave enough to go and ask for it back!

How do the legalities stand on something like this?
I ask because all the crap that goes on with BF when drugs are the issue with certain teams and players. How can there be 1 rule that applies in 1 case and yet doesn't in the other. I know Vic is the only state with the underbelly thing but I am just wondering how could the powers that be go after us as individuals or a site in either case?

I don't know how other Melbournians feel about this but I never actually felt unsafe of the 'underbelly' group because they seem to only be concerned with their own and not just random members of the general public (despite some 'accidents').
Obviously I didn't see it here :( but it never really bothered me knowing they were there. Jason sat in the social club where I always sat but there was never any trouble! We're all Blues when we walk through the gates...

Exactly i agree. I mean they're all unsavoury characters but unless you get yourself involved in it all you wouldn't have a clue what was going on in the 'underground'.

As far as I know we (BF) have not been asked to censor any comments on Underbelly. Just because it was banned from Vic television doesn't stop people from anywhere else talking about it.

They've only banned channel nine from broadcasting it in to Victoria. Their is still free speech and privacy laws. No matter where you live, I dont think their gonna start arresting people for talking about it. As long as theres no hyperlinks to copyright files on here there's no laws being broken as far as I know.

The drugs thing was a suppression order on the release of players and clubs names involved in illegally acquired medical records, which is a totally different issue.

Anyway, I thought it was great. Took a while to get going but it had me hooked by the second half. Vince Collosimo performance was top notch. And will be interesting watching the Carl Williams character develop.

Will definetley be "tuning in" again next week. :thumbsu:

The portrayal of Carl Williams is so good. The dimwit who will eventually go on to be king of the 'empire'.

I understand the reference was supposed to symbolize Princess Park and those conversations would have actually happened back in 1995 but was the scene actually shot at Optus Oval?

It looked more like Junction Oval with the old wooden benches.

As my brother (RIP) was a mad Carlton support we used to made point of coming over to one game per year and most time it was to Optus over. During the millions and millions of advert breaks it got us talking about weather we accidentally bumped into one of the Moran’s at a game. Yeah that would have been a very quick sorry.

That's Exactly it! No matter who you are, People form all around can be brought together by just 22 blokes, a footy, and a paddock to play on! Something in common can make a mateship!

Watch the show and then you may change your mind about how they only targetted their own ...they were loose cannons and a danger to society ...thank god so may are no longer upright .

OMG best show!! I seriously loved it. To be honest, I think in general, Aussie shows are terrible, but i thought this was awesome. Colossimo was heaps good, and as others have previously stated, it'll be good seeing the development of Carl Williams.

And to those who said they were "harmless to the general public", I don't know how accurate the show was, but it certainly didn't seem that way to me - ie Moran and Gangitano going into a nightclub and bashing innocent members of the public, including WOMEN. Pretty low if you ask me

Seeing as i was too young at the time to follow the gangland wars, can anyone explain to me the links to Carlton the Morans had? I tried looking it up, but didn't find much. Just that the had connections with a prominent Carlton bloke (named Leo or something??). Was it as simple as they just had meetings at our ground whilst the boys were training, or was it more than that? ie links with the players and the business/club etc
